Session 1

Warm up: 10 minutes


Material: A Tooty Ta Ta song, speakers, board, markers /chalk, cards with letters
Ask students to listen to the audio, model the movements. Repeat the action and request students to sing and move according to
the song; click to play the song.

Take advantage of the classroom arrangement to form teams, i.e. if students are in lines, the first in the line will start the activity, if
they are sitting in small groups, choose the first participant. Ask a student to take out a card; show or write the letter on the board,
say aloud the letter, students will search for a word starting with the mentioned letter, when the student finish the writing, he or she
will pass the turn to another student. The team that finishes first will be the winner. Repeat the activity using a different letter; it
would depend on the number of students per team.

Presentation: 15 minutes Question:


Material: Images 1 - 2, board and markers -What is this?
Show image 1 and say, “What is this?” Let students answer. The idea is to introduce the topic for advertisements. -What is it?
Refer to the words the students wrote on the board during the previous activity and explain that these words could be useful to
make an advertisement. Explain what an advertisement is and write the definition on the board: Vocabulary:

Advertisement: public notice, the act or process of advertising or publishing something. - notice

Explain that the short form of the word advertisement is “Ad”. Paste the images 1 and 2 on the board. Tell students that - ad
advertisements have different purposes, for example : - service
- product
 To offer a service or product Advertisement = Ad - pet

 To find lost pets

 To offer a job - event
 To announce an event

Practice: 10 minutes
Material: board, markers, notebook and pencil. - purpose
Ask students to observe the ads on the board, let them think about the purposes of the ads in the images then make the question, - announce
“what is the purpose in these advertisements?” The expected answer is “to announce events”. Have students copy the definition of
advertisement in their notebooks, and to think of an advertisement they could create on their own, elicit ideas if necessary.

Divide the group in pairs and have students share their ideas for their own advertisements. Ask some volunteers to pass to the front
to explain their ideas to the class, help them on this task by setting references for example by asking them if they want to advertise
an event or if they want to offer a product. Encourage them to use complete sentences, for example, “My advertisement is to
announce an event or My advertisement is to offer a product.” Ask them to write their descriptions in their notebooks.

Wrap up: 5 minutes


Material: board, markers
Review the definition and the purposes of advertisement and ask to the whole class; what is an advertisement? Encourage them to
answer according to the definition.

Session 2

Warm up: 5 minutes


Material: A Tooty Ta Ta song, speakers, board, markers.
Play A Tooty Ta Ta song and request students to sing move according to the song; click to play the song.
Write on the board the word Advertisement and spell it, then ask the students to spell the word clapping, making squats or jumping.
Repeat the procedure several times.

Paste on the board images 1 and 2 and tell students “advertisements have different parts: title which starts with a capital letter or - content
capital letters naming the thing announced by the sponsor or the particular person, content that includes general information and - picture / image
the picture or image of the thing, event or product.”

Point and write the parts of the advertisements on the board.

Point image 2 and ask students “What do you think about this advertisement? What is the purpose of this advertisement?” Expected -pet
answer would be to inform about the opportunity to adopt a pet.

Practice: 20 minutes
Material: Images 1 -2, board, markers. Video and speakers if possible.
Erase the parts of the advertisement and organize two teams (boys and girls), ask a boy and a girl to pass to the front and mention
any part of the advertisement; the first student that points and writes the word correctly will get a point for his or her team.
Ask students to take out their notebooks and copy one of the advertisements. Emphasize the three main parts of an advertisement:
title, content and picture, match every name with the specific place and have students copy it in their notebooks.

Project the video from the Language Department YouTube Chanel and ask students answer the activity on the video; click to play the
video.

Production: 10 minutes
Material: Students’ notebooks, pencil and colors
Have students draw and color something that they want to sell or promote, tell them to include what is required for an advertisement
(title and content), monitor work and provide the required help or assessment.

Wrap up: 5 minutes

Ask for volunteers to show their ads and to describe them to the group.

Paste images 1 and 2 on the board and explain the following: “An advertisement includes different information, for example: event,
date, time, place, cost, image, slogan and extra info.” Point and describe each element in the image. Use the following chart as a
reference.

Event is something that happens at a given place and time.


Date is the day or period of time at which something will occur.
Time is the hour something will occur.
Place is the location an event will occur.
Cost is the amount of money needed to pay to attend or to get a service or a product.
Image is the art that announces and represents a service or a product.
Slogan is a short easily remembered phrase, especially one used to advertise an idea or a product.
Extra Info is a short description of the product, service or product.

Practice: 10 minutes
Material: Image 1, board, markers, students’ notebooks.
With images 1 and 2 pasted on the board, draw on the board the following chart; ask students to identify the elements in the
advertisements, write the answers on the board. When the chart is complete, erase some elements and request students to copy
the information from the board and complete the chart. Allow students to work in pairs.

Provide each student with a set of images from template 1 or ask them to represent those events with simple drawings in their
notebooks. Then, ask students to copy the information from the board. Ask students to make sure their charts are complete in their
notebooks.

With the images pasted on the board, ask one student per row to pass to the front. Mention aloud one part of the advertisement
and have the student point at it.

Session 4 Moods:

Warm up: 5 minutes -happy

Ask children to form a circle in the middle of the classroom. Call out the moods sad, happy, angry, and surprised. Have children make -surprised
faces according to the mood they hear. Repeat the procedure several times, faster every time.

Write on the board the word Adjective and explain the function of an adjective in an advertisement. Explain that ads in general - white
include adjectives to describe and make the advertisement more attractive, the adjectives can describe color, size, shapes and - funny
general characteristics. Write the next chart on the board and use examples to explain. - amazing

Practice: 15 minutes - exclamation mark


Material: Board, markers, students’ notebooks. - happiness
Using easy drawings, ask students to describe them in a sentence. Draw the chart below and make sure students identify the - surprise
adjectives as describing words in the sentences. Divide the group in teams and request them to form sentences using as many - house
adjectives as possible, tell them to include an easy drawing next to the sentence. - giraffe

Ask the teams to choose a member to represent the team, then this student will show the drawing with the adjective that was chosen
to the rest of the group.

Wrap up: 5 minutes

If possible, ask students to cut out the drawings from the notebooks to paste them around the classroom (with previous authorization
from the homeroom teacher).

Session 5

Warm up: 10 minutes -close


Material: A Tooty Ta Ta song, speakers, images 1 – 2, board, markers. -eyes
Play A Tooty Ta Ta song and request students to sing move according to the song; click to play the song. -read
Ask the students to close their eyes while you read a description of an advertisement, after reading the description, ask them to open -listen
their eyes, show the images 1 and 2 and tell them to point to the ad you just read.

Write on the board the following chart, explain students they will create an advertisement using the information from the board. -community

answering the question: What is the purpose of your advertisement?
