A-MAJA Project
(Alvin-Mary Ashley Jessica Aisel Project)

I. OBJECTIVES
 To design and build the lightest and strongest bridge with the highest structural
efficiency
 To build a bridge that can support its own weight so the tension and compression in
its structure are essentially don’t cause any movements
 To enable us to identify the parts of an circle and it’s uses or application of the bridge
in mathematics

II. MATERIALS
 Popsicle Stick  Yarn  1/8 illustration board
 2 Wires (21 cm)  Crepe Paper  Glue gun w/ glustick
 2 Wires (29 cm)  Paint  Scissors

III. PROCEDURE
Bridges across the globe make up some of the most beautiful landmarks on this
Earth. Luckily, with a few bridge building techniques, a few popsicle sticks, a creative
mind, and a few other household items, you can now build a glorious arc bridge of your
very own. Simply follow these steps

1. Planning out your bridge such as determining the length, width, and height of your
bridge that we should consider how long the bridge will be
2. Prepare or gather all the materials/ equipment/tools needed in making the arc bridge
3. Make a blueprint of your bridge
4. Layout 4 rows of popsicle sticks with each row being three sticks wide each row
should be equal in length
5. Cut the half of the popsicle stick in order to make a tower or stack of it to support
the bridge
6. Make a 2 small arc at the end of the bridge and design as you like
7. Make the 2 big arcs both side of the bridge then put the yarn on each arc so that it
would look like an arc bridge (you may use crepe paper for covering the wire on
each side)
8. Using illustration board as the platform make use the paint as the design or the
theme that you would like to be in your arc bridge
9. Then glue all the parts of the bridge in the illustration board so that the finished
product will be present and look like an arc bridge
IV. MEASUREMENTS
 Measurement tools and skills have a variety of uses in everyday life. The ability to
use measuring tools, rulers, protractors , scales, and to estimate with these tools are
necessary skills that enable us to quantify the world around us. They can tell us how
tall we are, how long the object is , how much we drink, how heavy we are and how
far it is from here to there.

HEIGHT: 14.2 cm WIDTH: 9.5 cm

LENGTH: 31 cm RADIUS: 5.5 cm DIAMETER: 9 cm

SMALL ARC: 21 cm BIG ARC: 29 cm

V. SKETCH OR FINISHED PROCDUCT
 Sketching is a critical way through which the designer expresses and explores ideas
during concept design ideation.
 This then appears to indicate how, through sketching, the designer is in a better
position to explore potential solutions given a developing understanding of the
design problem, facilitated through generative attempts at its resolution.

VII. RECOMMENDATION

We
would
like to
recommend our A-MAJA BRIDGE to those less fortunate places here in the Philippines. We
always hear news about those students who are willing to cross raging rivers or cross high cliffs
just to attend in school and learn. Our bridge has an amazing industrial strength that can support
heavy weight and is safe to cross. This can help the students accomplish their dreams and the
place will be more accessible and easy to go to. This will give many benefits to those places and
the people living there.

VIII. CONCLUSION
We, therefore, conclude that the bridge we designed and built is capable of supporting its
own weight and it is sturdy enough that it can support all the passerby and heavy vehicles due to
its high structural efficiency. We also enable to identify the parts of the circle in the arc bridge
that we made including the radius, arc, chord, diameter, semicircle and etc. The application of
circle is extremely broad since the circle is a famous polygon of having a closed figure and no
side because of its unique properties among the other polygons such as our arc bridge that is very
useful in real life in transportation. We may also example the “wheels” which is a device that
makes use of circles to enable efficient movement of an object across a surface where there is a
force pressing the object to the surface (e.g cart pulled by a horse and the rollers on an aircraft
flap mechanism)
