MAKING VISUAL INFORMATION
Visual Information is the artistic or creative representation or
interpretation of an idea, concept, or emotion using different media. It is
created by painters, photographers, graphic artists or designers and
sculptors, among others.
1. Painter- refers to a person who produces a work of art with colors, lines,
and shapes using paint as medium.
2. Photographer- taking pictures or images using a camera is the
photographer’s primary job. A photographer can be classified as either an
amateur or a professional. A professional photographer uses his skills to
deliver an image that would best represent a certain theme.
3. Graphic Artist or Designer- a graphic artist or designer sets the images,
illustrations, charts, and tables on the manuscript. He is also responsible for
the artwork and design using electronic media. Apart from books and
magazines, an experienced graphic artist or designer can create and layout
brochures and other advertising materials.
4. Sculptor- a sculptor creates a piece of art using a variety of media such
as clay, marble, wood or even ice.
TYPES OF VISUAL INFORMATION
PAINTING
is an art from that creates picture using a flat mediums, such as canvass
or board and paint.
1. Landscape- a landscape painting shows an outdoor scene. A
landscape artist uses paint to create images of land, water and
clouds, as well as other elements like air, wind and sunlight.

2. Portrait- it shown an image of a person or animal. It resembles
how the person look like and captures the person’s mood or
personality.

A portrait of a young Roman-Egyptian boy, who was probably nobility.
3. Still Life- a still life shows inanimate objects as subjects, such as
musical instruments. It could also be flowers or food on display. A
painter can show his artistic skills in painting shapes, light and
shadow.
EXAMPLE:
Boquet(1599) is an example of still life painting by Jan Brueghel the
Elder (1568-1625). It is displayed in Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.
Some of the earliest examples of still life are paintings of flowers by Dutch
and Flemish painters.
4. Icon- An icon refers to a painting of Jesus Christ or other religious
figure identified with the Roman Catholic Church, which
proliferated during the Byzantine Empire.
EXAMPLE:
A classic example of an icon during the Byzantine Empire is the image of
the Perpetual Help, where the Virgin Mary carries the infant Jesus. This
icon adorned the Eastern Catholic Church.
PHOTOS/IMAGES

viewers fell emotions by just looking at it. Photos are also used as evidences

AUDIO INFORMATION AND MEDIA
TYPES OF AUDIO INFORMATION AND THEIR
CHARACTERISTIC
Audio Information pertains to any sound or auditory impression
perceived by the ears and processed by the brain. Specially, audio
information can be any of the following:
1. Dialog or Conversational- through a dialog or conversation, an
exchange of ideas takes place between the people who are talking.
Dialog is more formal in nature. However in a conversation, talk
can be informal and the topic is somewhat casual.
2. Lecture or Talk- through a lecture or talk, the participants are able
to acquire information from the speaker. The speaker can either be
a teacher or an expert in the field of subject. A lecture or talk is
usually held at a university, where the lecture is given to convey
critical information or new ideas or theories, or result of reserch or
studies.
3. News- through the news, the public learns information about
current events that happen locally and internationally.
4. Podcast- a podcast refers to a digital audio file, which can be
downloaded on the computer with internet acess. The audio file is
usually available as a series and subscribes are allowed to receive
the installments automatically on their device once it has been
uploaded.
5. Audio book- literally, an audio book is talking book, as there is a
complete recording of the entire text, which is read. If the text is
only red in portions, it is labeled as reduced or abridge version.
6. Music- it refers to a vocal or instrumental sounds(or both) whish
express the melody, harmony, and rhythm of a specific tune.
Melody refers to the tone of notes in a musical composition.
Harmony refers to the proper combination of tunes or chords to
produce pleasing music. Rhythm refers to the systematic
arrangement of sounds based on duration or stress.
KINDS OF MUSIC
1. Classical- this refers to the kind of music associated with the
luminary composer nd musicians like Bach, Beethoven, Mozart
and Schubert. Liturgical ( religious) and secular music falls under
classical musical, too.
2. Opera- this kind of music are peformer by singer and musicians
through a dramatic work, combining text (libretto) and musical
score, usually in theatrical setting.
3. Broadway- this music is similar to the opera. It is based on a play
and presented as as theatrical performance where the
performers sing the lyrics.
4. Folk or Traditional- a kind of music showing the tradition and
culture of one’s ancestors. Folk music also shows the music of
indigenous or ethnic tribes. The elders of the tribe teach youger
generation about their history, tradition and culture through music.
5. . Inspirational, Gospel or Religious- this is type of music that is
religious and sacred in nature. It is sung in as a workship song.
6. Ballad- it has a light, sentimental, or romantic mood with slow
melody.
7. Soul- the music became popular in the United States in the late
1950s and early 1960s. It combines elements of African-American
Gospel music, rhythm and blues, and jazz.
8. Reggae- it originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. It has a fast
melody and incorporates jazz and rhythm and blues,
9. Hip-hop or Rap- a type of music popular to the younger
generation. This kind of music started as a subcultural movement
of African-American youths living in the South Bronx in New
York City in the early 1970s. Apart from its funky music, poetry is
spoken through rap style, where the rapper speaks the lyrics
following a certain beat.
10. Rock or Punk- a music that originated in the late 1960s and 1970s
among American, English and Australian teens. It is characterized
by loud and heavy metal music produced by electric guitars and
drums.
11. Asian Pop- a popular unbeat music making wakes in Asia like in
Japan (JPOP) and Korean (KPOP).
12. Originated Pilipino Music (OPM)- it is composed of Filipino
music from various genres retro music, pop music and even
kundiman.
PEOPLE WHO MAKES AUDIO INFORMATION
1. Commentator- this refers to a person who discusses the news,
sports events, the weather and other related topics on television or
over the radio.
2. Emcee- the emcee master of ceremony in a public event, program
or a large social occasion.
3. Disk Jockey (DJ) or Radio Announcer- a radio DJ plays music
on-air. A DJ can use computerized sound equipment to broadcast
different types of music in the radio station.
4. Narrator- a person who is responsible to narrating a story. He
recounts the events in a novel or narrative poem.
5. Voice- over – it has a similar role with narrator. He provides in a
motion picture or television commercial.
6. Music Artist- a music artist commonly referred to as recording
artist is a musician who records and releases music, often
professionally, through a record or an independent label.
7. Musician- a person who plays a musical instrument or is musically
talented. A musician can also be composer and a conductor at the
same time, apart from performing music.
DELIVERING AUDIO INFORMATION
1. Radio- it refers to an electronic device that proceduces sound. The
radio has a built-in speaker but there is also a jack for the headset.
2. . Walkman – a portable version of the audio cassette player is the
Walkman, which also has radio features. Walkman is Sony’s brand
name, which became a household name in the late 1970s.
3. Discman- a more modern version of the Walkman is the Discman
also from Sony. This Discman is the first portable CD player.
4. MP3 Player- an electronic device that can play digital audio files.
It is an older version of an iPod but an improved version of
Discman.
5. iPod- a portable media player from Apple, Inc., the iPod released
in 2001. It is the improved version of the MP3 player and it can
carry more music.
6. iTunes- it is a mobile device management application that Apple,
Inc. developed. It is a media library that allows subscribes to play,
download and organize digital audio and videos, as well as other
types of media available in the iTunes Stores.
PRODUCING AUDIO INFORMATION
1. Cassette Tape- it is a magnetic tape recording format for audio
recording and playback, which Philips released in 1962.
Originally, this was used for recording and dictation purpose.
2. Vinyl records- also known as gramophone or a phonograph
record. The vinyl record is an analog sound storage medium in the
form of a flat polyvinyl chloride (previously shellac) disc with an
inscribed, modulated spiral groove.
3. Phonograph- invented in 1877 phonograph is a device used for
mechanical recording and reproduction of sound. Its later version
is called a gramophone.
4. Compact Disk (CD) player- it is similar to cassette record or a
radio, except that it can play a compact disk (CD). Is an electronic
device with a flat and a round optical disc. It was first used to store
digital data, like music and other sounds, and is sometimes called
audio CD.
5. Live Performance- it can be done by orchestra or a band. This
live performance is known as a concert, where music is played in
front of an audience. An orchestra refers to a large instrumental
ensemble that plays classical music . A band is similar to an
orchestra except that it has less people playing musical
instruments, often limited only to keyboard, guitar and drums.
Additionally a band is known to play contemporary or modern
music, while an orchestra plays classical music.
 EVALUATING AND RATING AUDIO INFORMATION
1. Sound Quality- this is vital factor in an audio
information. Volume pertains to the loudness and softness
of a sound. Picth determines the highness and lowness of
tone.
 2. Voice Quality- this is also important since any vague due
to poor diction or improper pronunciation could lead to
misinterpretation of the text being read.
3. Type of Content- it should be considered in preparing
audio information. The kind of music should be
appropiate to the content.
Advantages of Audio Information
 it is easier to process since the information is already
communicated verbally.
 the audience pays more attention to the information, making it
easier to absorb the content
 audio information is much faster to relay since it can be said orally
Limitations of Audio Information
 retention of information could be difficult since the details were
relayed orally.
 the audience can become easily distracted if the sound is not
audible.
 the one who will relay the information should be a good speaker
and the receiver should have a good command of the language to
understand the information.
Motion Information and Media
PEOPLE INVOLVED IN MAKING MOTION
INFORMATION
1. Actor- an actor is regarded as a performer who gives life to a role.
2. Director- the director supervise and instructs performers or actors
on how they should act based on their role as described in the
script.
3. Script Writer- the preson in charged with writing the script of the
film is the script writter .
4. Makeup Artist- the one responsible for making the actors look
their best by applying makeup is the makeup artist.
5. Production Design Team- the prodution design team responsible
for the overall look of a film and its set.
6. Music and Audio- the music and audio team is responsible for the
sound effects and background music used in the film .
TYPES OF MOTION INFORMATION
1. Comedy and Humor- the content of this motion picture is light
and funny . It can make the audience fell good and happy.
2. Drama- this motion picture contains heavy or serious content. It
involves conflicts that may be difficult to deal with.
3. .Suspense- in the suspense films the audience is made to feel
anxious and excited about the content because the plot involves
many thrills and twists.
4. Horror-the goal behind horror movies to instill fear in the
audience. The story may involve malevolent creatures or beings,
evil entities and paranormal.
5. Romance and Lovestory- in this particular motion picture, the
story centers on how the min characters met and how they show
their genuine affection and/or passion for each other,which is
deemed as romantic love.
6. Science fiction or fantasy- in science fiction or fantasy movies,
the story contains interesting topics in science that can affect the
future.
7. Historical- in this kind of motion picture,historical elements are
incorporated into the history, it can be about the life of a specific
historical figure who was influential during his time.
8. Inspirational-the story featured in an inspirational film may be
based on real life,where The audience can draw inspiration from.it
tells how a person succeeded in life or overcame trials.
9. Religious or Spiriual- A religious or spiritual motion picture
contains topics about god or spiritually,holy or religious
people,and the church.
10. Action- in this film genre, the protagonist or main character of the
story encounters challenges that typically includes fight scenes,
violence, and frantic chases, which require the actor to do physical
stunts apart from acting
11. Documentary-it is an nonfictional motion picture intended to
document some aspects of reality, primarily for the purpose of
instruction or maintaining a historical record.
 12. Animation –This kind of motion pictures are created with
traditional hand-drawn or computer-generated animation
techniques.
13. Musical-This is the kind of film where the actors deliver their lines
by singing the performance also includes dancing. a musical is
often based on a stage play and adapted into a movie.

 Motion media is an effective form of communication because it is

both visual and auditory.

is dynamic.
 Motion media gives the audience the opportunity to learn and
enjoy at the same time.

LIMITATIONS OF MOTION INFORMATION

 Motion media could be subjected to different interpretations from

the audience.
 it takes a lot of effort and time produce, which could delay
information dissemination and learning.
 It needs skilled people who can fill in different teams needed to
complete the film, from the production staff to the design team
among many other without the right people suitable for the job, the
movie’s intended message may not be captured.
