COURSE OUTLINE in PROF ED 12: THE TEACHING PROFESSION

Course Objectives:
1. Generate and communicate ideas by combining, changing, or reapplying existing information;

2. Identify the current issues influencing the field of education and teacher professional development;

3. Includes the ability to consider different points of view and to work effectively with others to support a
shared purpose or goal;

4. Analyze the culture of schooling and classrooms from the perspectives of language, gender,
socioeconomic, ethnic, and disability-based academic diversity and equity;

5. Includes intercultural competence, knowledge of civic responsibility, and the ability to engage
effectively in regional, national, and global communities;

6. Recognize the various multiple intelligence/learning styles in order to be able to implement instructional
practices that meet the needs of all students;

7. Evaluate personal motivations, educational philosophies, and factors related to educational career
decision making.
