Consider there is a plane which carries enough fuel for 20 hours of flight at an airspeed of
150 miles per hour.

The objective is to find how far it can fly into 30 mph headwind and still have enough
fuel to return to its starting point.

Now time taken for flight is 20 hours and acceleration is the airspeed which is as 150
miles per hour so the distance d covered with this fuel is as:

d  150  20
d  3000 miles

Thus, distance covered is 3000 miles with enough fuel.

Now the given headwind speed is 30 mph so the airspeed is as:

In headwind it is 150  30  120 mph

In tailwind it is 150  30  180 mph

Thus, time taken to cover d distance with 120 mph speed and time taken to cover d
distance with 180 mph speed is as:
d d
  20
120 180
3d  2d
 20
360
5d  7200
d  1440

Thus, the distance it can fly into 30 mph headwind and still have enough fuel to return to
its starting point is as 1440 miles .
