QUESTION-01

What do you think motivated the company’s decision to offer the community $ 5000 to hire its
own expert? Why do you think the community was insulted? If you were the company’s local
manager, what would you have done?

ANSWER

The main element that motivated the company's decision to offer the community £5000 to hire
its own expert was that the company thought they would not be able to defend or speak for
themselves, given their status of being less educated.

After a bit research about Dene People, they have quite unique indigenous culture; which might
be in first place why they were offended by the money; on the cultural differences. Secondly, the
community was insulted because, first, their land was polluted and second, they were offered
very little amount by a rich oil company.

If I had happened to be the company's local manager, I would have personally talked to the
community and I would have asked them how they would like to settle the matter.

QUESTION-02

What facts would be helpful to you, as an outsider, in evaluating the company’s behavior after
the spill?

ANSWER

The facts that would be helpful to me as an outsider in evaluating the company’s behavior are
that whether the company is taking the responsibility of the leak or not, are they even making an
effort to resolve the problem with the villagers or not and lastly is the company dealing with this
all honestly and not using the innocence of the villagers against them by cutting the corners.

QUESTION-03

What values are involved in this situation? How would Enbridge answer that question,
internally? How would the people of Wrigley answer that question, if asked?

ANSWER

According to me this dilemma involves responsibility, accountability, and justice. The company
cared more about their profits rather then the community, if they cared about the well being of
other people in the surrounding areas, they would have focused on making their own process
safe.

If asked from Enbridge, they would have stated their own values based on their own perception
and “language”. To them let us say make a guess, loyalty, and commitment of so-called
profitability to their C-Level.

The people of Wrigley would has answered the same values as we stated above it involves.

QUESTION-04

Did Enbridge have obligations that went beyond cleaning up the area directly affected by the
spill from the company’s pipeline? Was it obligated to offer $ 5000? Consider the suggestion
made by a member of the community, that Enbridge should donate money to build a swimming
pool or hockey arena for local kids. Would a donation of this kind help to satisfy the company’s
obligations to the community?

ANSWER

The obligations were far beyond just cleaning the sea which the company completely ignored.
As of 5000 that they offered it was obliged to pay more, as this leak put the health of the
community at stake by polluting the only water reservoir.

As of the suggestion made by the member of community, that was exactly what Enbridge should
have done, be it not a swimming pool or a hockey arena anything would have been better as far
as it gives them some benefit.. A donation of this kind might have helped to satisfy them.
