Minister blames plant inferno on Banten

Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri said on Sunday that the Banten provincial administration
should be held accountable for the poor monitoring that led to a deadly blast in a fireworks
factory in Kosambi, Tangerang.
Hanif said the factory, operated by PT Panca Buana Cahaya Sukses, had failed to implement
protective measures for its workers despite storing and producing flammable materials.

Tangerang fireworks factory explodes, killing 47

The death toll in a fireworks factory explosion on Thursday has increased to 47 people, with
39 of them sent to the National Police hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, for autopsies, the
Jakarta Police have said. The police’s spokesperson, Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono, said another
46 injured individuals had been admitted to a number of hospitals, including Tangerang
Regional General Hospital and Mitra Husada Hospital. The explosion occurred at a fireworks
factory in Kosambi, Tangerang, Banten, at around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning. (Warta
