WARM UP
Purpose:
Build the foundation to a consistent approach to playing every day.
Ensure physical setup is operating correctly
Approach:
Relaxed and comfortable. Waiting and listening for the sound to stabilise.
Mentally preparing to make beautiful music.

1. Even and full yoga breath through trumpet with the mouthpiece

2. Relaxed mouthpiece buzzing

3. Buzz the leadpipe with mouthpiece by removing the tuning slide. Think about accelerating the air through the leadpipe
and of letting the air blow the embouchure into place. The sound should be a rich and resonant, reedy buzz. Focus on
creating a resonant buzz, not an airy sound. Project.

Section 2. MAINTENANCE
Purpose:
Maintain core trumpet skills - sound, articulation, dynamics
Approach:
Relaxed and comfortable. Making beautiful music with meaning.

5. Minor 2nds, dynamics. Optionally repeat each using a lip bend rather than changing fingering

Section 3. DEVELOPMENT
Purpose:
Develop musicianship and performance skills
Approach:
Play excerpts, studies, melodies, performance pieces
Making beautiful music with meaning.
Isolate, extemporise and repeat difficult sections. Stay fresh.
