Writing Guide

Introduction : state the topic/ you may ask a question or start with a quotation, state your opinion.
Main Body (2 paragraphs): each paragraph should present a separate viewpoint with your reason,
one of the paragraphs should present the opposing viewpoint(while always supporting your
viewpoint).
Conclusion: restate your opinion, restate argument( one sentence), closing statemement
( question, predicition,thought-provoking statement).

TIPS
Main Body : always start with a topic sentence, then elaborate and use specific examples.
Only write from one point of view and mainly use present tenses.
Use formal register and avoid using personal examples and short forms.

Introduce your viewpoint : Furthermore, Moreover, In addition, additionally,etc
Introduce the opposing viewpoint: However, despite,on the other hand,although,nevertheless,
alternatively, etc
Conclusion: to sum up, in conclusion, to conclude, all things considered, given these points, in
the final analysis, etc.
