DIRECT INSTRUCTION LESSON PLAN

Describe Classroom:
6th grade classroom with 26 students, two kids with Autism of Spectrum, two with
Down Syndrome, interested to learn Spanish.

Subject/Skill:
Conversational Spanish

Objectives:
Students should be able to identify and verbally reproduce the parts of an
introductory conversation in Spanish.

Learners should be able to introduce themselves in Spanish, using at least 35


spanish words or be able to converse introducing themselves in Spanish for 1-2 minutes
time range. Without error.

Students should be able to recognize and understand other people’s introductory


conversation in Spanish, without error

Procedures:
Students will practice writing on a paper all parts of an introductory conversation
in Spanish:
Hola! , Buenos Dias, Buenas tardes, Buenas noches.

Marital Status
Place of birth
Reason for being in that place (Spanish speaking )
Watch videos of the different ways to say hello! in Spanish, and greeting conversations
.
Students will write in a note card topics of the type of greeting they want to use for
his/her introductory conversation.

Students will use the computers to research the translations of the unknown words.

Students will pair of to practice their conversations with each other.


Students with tutors in class will work with their tutors practicing in mass trials if
necessary to be able to know every part of the conversations.

Grouping Structures:

Students will pair of with another student, who ever they chose to work during
practice time.

Modifications:

We, as a group might practice together in order for the students to be able to identify all
parts and phrases used in an introductory conversation.

We might take longer time researching and listening conversations in Spanish in the
computer.

Assessment:

Students should perform a conversation with their partners in front of the class,
using at least 35 Spanish words to sustain a conversation for 1-2 minutes without error.
The sketch must be presented in the most natural articulation and creating a
normal and habitual environment.
35 words or 1 minute = C
36-40 or 1 ½ minute = B
Above 40 words or 2 minutes=A
