To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my interest in the third grade teaching position. Through my

experiences, I have gained valuable skills that I think will contribute greatly to this school
community including:
● Organization
● Communication (with both adults and children)
● Technology
● Lesson planning
● Adapting
During my time in college and while observing or assisting in various classrooms, I
demonstrated organizational skills. I consistently met all deadlines. I was prepared in advance and
had perfect attendance for both college classes and my job.
While teaching 4-H dog obedience classes, I learned how to effectively communicate with
children of all ages. I have also become more comfortable talking to adults while working at a farm
store. In addition, I have given multiple presentations in front of groups.
I will be able to use my technology expertise to augment my teaching and grade tracking. I
have used chromebooks, ipads, and multiple types of laptop computers. Powerpoint presentations,
Google Suites, and Microsoft Office skills will be some of the tools that will be used to both teach
and evaluate learning. The use of technology will allow me to better engage students with different
styles and strategies.
As a 3rd grade education intern at Mt. Carmel school, I was introduced to the standards for
and helped to prepare lesson plans. This allowed me to gain a variety of teaching tools that I could
use in my future classroom. I also provided individual instruction to students who were struggling
in certain subjects. I would help students with writing their name, math (addition and subtraction),
and reading. With my extra assistance, they were able to improve their perform- ance. At times I
needed to adapt my approach in order to meet students’ learning needs.
I think that my skills and abilities will be valuable to your school corporation. I want to be
able to use my resources to inspire and educate students so they will be successful in the world. I
look forward to discussing these with you in more detail in the near future.

Sincerely,

Karen Kahles
