Context:
Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other
sons,
because he had been born to him in his old age; and
he made an ornate robe for him. When his brothers
saw that their father loved him more than any of
them, they hated him and could not speak a kind
word even plot to kill him. Added to that Joseph had a
dream, and he told it to his brothers, “We were binding
sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my
sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves
gathered around mine and bowed down to it.” His
brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us?
Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the
more because of his dream and what he had
said.  Then he had another dream, and he told it to
his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream,
and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars
were bowing down to me.” Joseph’s siblings he is an
arrogant boaster. Like a typical Filipino family the
hierarchy of seniority must be followed, respect for
elders is recognizable Filipinos owe it as a grace from
God in the person of the elders. Likewise in the
patriarchal culture is faithfully followed.

Question?
What about you? How does your family tend to handle
conflict?
Have you ever fought hard with a person close to you and
then experience reconciliation? What process did you go
through?
In Joseph’s case, maturity came only through calamity. he
seems curiously insensitive of his brother’s jealousy. And his
brother’s jealousy of Joseph grew into action.  The brothers
sold him into slavery to a traveling caravan of Ishmaelites
who took him to Egypt and sold him to Potiphar, the captain
of Pharaoh's guard
As a slave he reseisted sexual temptation, and for his
troubles was accused of rape and thrown into prison.
From the boy. Who summoned before Pharaoh on a whim ,
Joseph the prisoner behaved with confidence and tact
Pharaoh gave a huge government program to administer ,
and he carried it out his tasks with tremendous skill.
Most remarkably,Joseph resisted the change to get
even. When his brothers fell into his hands, he struggled to
forgive them rather than paying them back for their actions.
In a time of famine, he saved his brothers – and his entire
extended family by bringing them down to Egypt to live with
him. Joseph’s shows how struggles and disappointments can
Turn out for good. They resulted in good for Josep’s family,
who are able to escape a terible famine.
In good for Joseph’s family who gained a whole new
perspective on life, looking back, he could see God at work
Even in all the trials he had experienced.

Josephs admits to his brothers, “ It was not you

God intended it for good.
Question?
Have you struggled with the logic of
forgiveness? Is there someone in your life
whom you have been unable to forgive?
Integration
In life some people experience desolation and abandonment
especially those for whom are falsely judged by people whom you
expect to defend you, feeling abandoned by God with the trials and
suffering. Jesus like Joseph in his time was also the stone rejected by
the builders become the corner stone.” Mt 21:42 Christ is the
foundation, on which the church, and every believer, are built.the
spiritual building the church, where he is both the foundation and
corner stone. Joseph likewise build the foundation his love for his
family is greater than vindication. Setting agaist his grudged for He
clearly aware of his calling, he would be a savior to his family for He
was the one anointed by his father Jacob and his dream was fully a
revelation and realization of God’s for his his family. When God did
not allow division to perpetuate within his family circle but rather
love surmounts and deepens the unity and feility to God will always
be the reason to bring prosperity and success to every steps of the
way . Therefore God’s people will always declare blessing from the
Lord who is the source of strenght and meaning in every family.
