CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
Blue Wave Coalition recommends voting on each pro-
posed amendment as shown below.
Citizenship Requirement to Vote in Florida Elections
#1 NO Florida’s constitution already clearly states that U.S. citizenship
is a requirement for voter registration.
Raising Florida’s Minimum Wage Everyone who works
#2 YES deserves at least a living wage.
All Voters Vote in Primary Elections In Florida, a Top Two
#3 NO Primary system would reduce the opportunity for minority
party representation under the guise of open primaries.
Voter Approval of Constitutional Amendments
#4 NO Requiring ballot initiatives to be voted on twice reduces the
impact of voters’ influence. Once is enough for voters to speak.
Limitation on Homestead Assessments
#5 NO The proposal would reduce property taxes by millions, but
these taxes help fund public schools and other services.
Budgets are already stretched thin due to the pandemic.
Homestead Property Tax Discount for Spouses
of Deceased Veterans Florida’s Republican-controlled
#6 YES legislature has failed to enact a law to transfer this discount to
surviving spouses of veterans with permanent combat-related
disabilities.

2020 COUNTY REFERENDA

Home Rule Charter Amendment Establishing


#1 YES Independent Inspector General to oversee county projects
and contracts for abuse, waste and mismanagement.
Amendment Regarding Elections to Fill Mayor or
#2 YES Commission When the mayor or county commissioner
resigns to run for another office the vacancy will be filled by
election during the primary and General election rather than
appointment or special election.

Nonpartisan Election of County Sheriff, Property


#3 YES Appraiser, Tax Collector and Supervisor of Elections
Ballot would not show party affiliation of candidates.

2020 KEY BISCAYNE REFERENDUM


General Bond issue not greater than $100 million to miti-
#1 YES gate effects of sea level rise and flooding, protect village
beaches and shoreline, harden infrastructure to the effects of
hurricanes.

WAYS TO VOTE
VOTE BY MAIL
To avoid mail delays, deposit your completed ballot in one of the drop boxes
during early voting 10/19 through 11/1 from 7 AM to 7 PM. Be sure to SIGN and
DATE the outside of your ballot ENVELOPE. If you choose to mail it, please do
so by Saturday, 10/17 to give it plenty of time to arrive. Ballots must be received
(not mailed) by Election Day Nov 3 at 7 PM to be counted. Go to Miamidade.gov/elections
or call 305- 499-8683 to find your nearest dropbox and track receipt of your ballot after
voting.
