Topic/s: Community Organizing (CO) , Community Organizing and Participatory action research (COPAR)

What activities did we do?

Our class today is asynchronous . Two files are uploaded by our Clinical Instructor , 1st file is a PowerPoint
presentation containing concepts on Community Organizing and COPAR. 2nd file is a Word/PDF containing
additional concepts on COPAR. We are then instructed to answer our journals for us to write our inquiries and
thoughts with regards to the topic that is given to us.

What did I learn?

I learned more about community organizing which ensures health in the hands of the people. I also learned about
the core principles in community organizing, phases of community organizing and the participatory data-gathering
methods for COPAR. I realized that community organizing is truly a process , how you will organize will truly
reflect how it will come out in the end. It is like a step by step process with a holistic approach.

How does what I learned relate to the real world?

What I learned will truly relate to the real world in a way that in our day to day lives we encounter with different
kinds of people .What I learned thought me how to communicate well or how to deal with people in a community.
As a future health care provider it is already part of our profession that we have to deal with different kinds of
people every day and it is truly important for us to know how to handle them well and be flexible enough to be
able to adapt easily towards a given situation.

What did I like and dislike about the learning experience?

What I like about the learning experience is that the topic is written and organized well in a way that it is easier
for me to understand specially its processes and different phases. It gives emphasis on what are truly important. I
don`t dislike anything with regards to my learning experience.

What questions or concerns do I have about what I learned?

I don`t have any questions or concerns towards what I learned so far.

What would I like to learn more about?

I like to learn more with regards to what are the possible barriers or challenges when it comes to community
organizing and how to respond it.

How might what I learned help me in the future?

What I learned will help me in the future specially when we will be exposed again to the community which is one
of the requirements of this subject . Because of this topic , we already have an idea when it comes to community
organizing and have knowledge on being able to gain the trust of the people and without them misinterpreting
what my intention would be towards them.
