GERIATRIC MEDICINE: Caring for Elderly, Youth Responsibility
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Members of AMSA-Indonesia
The leader of the team and in one competition should not be leader in
other competition
There are no limits of authors, but there will be limitation for
presenters of each competition (there will also be limits for Academic
Seats you will get).
NOTE : for every participant that submitting the hard copy overdue deadline
will be disqualified from the competition.

Geriatric Medicine: Caring For Elderly, Youth Responsibility
TARGETS
Medical students, medical professionals
OBJECTIVE
1. To provide a platform for medical students to exchange knowledge
regarding geriatric health issues.
2. To recognize the role of medical students, healthcare professionals,
community and government in handling geriatric problems (detection,
prevention and management) efficiently and effectively.
GUIDELINE
1. Choose a geriatric disease that is considered important and describe the
disease of your choice.
a. Pathologic basis of the disease
b. Current management of the disease
2. Develop your scientific paper using clinically based research methods
such as
a. cross-sectional study
b. cohort study
c. systemic review
d. or any other methods of your choice
3. What are some difficulties that can arise from the disease of your choice
during the care of the disease? Consider them from the perspective of:
a) Patient
b) Health Care Provider
c) Society and government
4. What is the current method of management of this disease? What can
patients, medical professionals, society and government, do to overcome
these obstacles? As medical students, what can we do to help alleviate these
problems?

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
- The top ten (10) entries based on content will be given the chance to
present their work.
- There are no limits of paper authors, but there will be only 3 (THREE)
presenters.
ABSTRACT
1. File format : Microsoft word document (.doc or .docx)
2. Language: English only (If local words are used, English translations must
be provided)
3. Word limit : 300 words (excluding title and authors)
4. File name : “Paper – Abstract – University - First Author” (e.g. Paper –

ORAL PRESENTATION
1. File Format: Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation (.ppt or .pptx)
2. Language: English only
3. Length
– 10 minutes will be allotted for the presentation (10% deduction for
every 30s over limit)
- There will be a warning bell at the 2 minutes left
- 10 minutes will be allotted for the Q&A
4. Presenters – Maximum THREE (3)
DISQUALIFICATION
Submissions will be disqualified for any of the following:
1. Not meeting theme, guidelines and entry requirements
2. Late submission
3. Plagiarism of any sort

geriatric health issues.
2. To share the effective current management of geriatric health issues.
3. To propose strategies how general public can participate in improving the
geriatric health management.
GUIDELINE
1. Choose geriatric disease that you considered important and describe the
disease of your choice.
a. Pathologic basis of the disease
b. Management of the disease
2. What are some difficulties that can arise from the disease of your choice
during the care of the disease?
3. Propose possible ways that general public can participate in management
of this problem.
4. The end product (public poster) will consist mainly of graphics and
designs.

OBJECTIVE

2. To share the effective current management of geriatric health issues.
3. To propose strategies how one can participate in improving the geriatric
health management.
GUIDELINE
1. Make an advertisement-type video based on the theme, describing the
difficulties that can arise during the care of this disease, as well as what an
individual can do to help overcome these difficulties.
CRITERIA
A. Judge’s vote 70%

B. Online Vote 30%

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
- The top ten (10) entries based on content will be given the chance to be
voted for election for top 3.
VIDEO SPESIFICATION
1. File format: Movie should be able to be played on Windows Media Player
(Suggested format are .mov or .mp4).
2. Video duration: maximal 4 min
3. Language: English (Other languages are accepted, however it must be
accompanied by subtitles in English)
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE & DEADLINE
- Video must be submitted in DVD by 24th December 2014, 23:59 hrs
(GMT+8).
- The 10 teams shortlisted as finalists will be announced by 11th January
2015.
- Finalists’ videos will be uploaded by the Committee in Youtube and opened
for voting until 26th February 2015.
- The Representative/Academic Coordinator of each university should be in
charge of collecting the video and submit to IMSTC 2015 Committee via our
email academicimstc2015@gmail.com
- Each AMSA University which has submitted their academic works in
softcopy and hardcopy type should report to IMSTC 2015 Committee for
confirming. Text message to our Committee SITI ARIFAH (08991859009).
- Once the academic works is received, the IMSTC 2015 Organizing
Committee will send an email of confirmation to the Representative.
- Finalists of video competition are NOT PRESENTED their works, but still
get TWO (2) academic seats for IMSTC 2015
DISQUALIFICATION

- Every images, music, sounds or videos that included on your video project
should be created by your own. No copyrigthed items on your video.
- Your video must not infringe upon any third party rights.
- The video must not be produced for any previous video competition
