STAGE 3: Learning Plan
Learning activities (Based on 5E Instructional Model)

Engage
Teacher demonstrate that magnet can attract and repel green apple.
Pupil share their idea about their observation. Others give feedback and add in more idea.

Explore and Explain

The teacher recalls pupils’ prior knowledge ; the characteristics of magnet, shape of magnet and the
uses of magnet in daily life.

Asking pupils to conduct group activity using given materials such as two magnet bars and paper
clips.
Pupils have to observe the number of paper clips attracted to the magnets.
Pupils will determine the strength of the magnet through observation.
Pupils discuss among group members to identify the stronger magnet based on their observation.
Pupils do reflection on learning and relate the activity to the learning outcomes.

Elaborate
Teachers challenge and extend pupils’ to design a simple game using knowledge they have gained.
Pupils will build a game i.e fishing game with the using given magnet of different strength.
Whoever can catch the most fish will win.
Pupils explore the pattern of magnetic fields by using iron filling in cooking oil.

Evaluate
Pupils answer questions in activity book.
