Installing Compass 2.0

Overview
Compass 2.0 installation helps you to:
• Create a new Compass 2.0 MS SQL database.
• Migrate existing MS Access database accounts to MS SQL Express or MS SQL Server 2000 or MS SQL
Server 2005 or MS SQL Server 2008.
NOTE:
You can migrate the MSDE accounts to SQL Express or SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005 or SQL
Server 2008 using the database management utility (DMU).
By using the database management utility, you can generate a backup of the database and restore it to a
SQL Express database. If you remove the Database before backing up and restoring, the existing
database is lost.
Connect and upgrade existing SQL Server/SQL Express Compass database to the latest Compass 2.0 database.
The Compass 2.0 installations are of two types: standalone or server and client installation.
NOTE:
 You cannot run two types of installation at the same time.
 The Compass 2.0 installation normally does not require the computer to be rebooted. However, in
scenarios where some files are in use, the setup displays a message asking you to reboot the
computer.
 While installing, the version 2.2.7.5 can be installed as a base version or can be installed as an
upgrade to the existing 2.0.14.3 or on any of versions upgraded from 2.0.14.3.
 Ensure that no other software installations or updates are being run simultaneously when you begin
Compass 2.0 installation.
TIP: It is recommended that you copy the setup to your local PC.
