Dear Wan senesi, Syahrun sensei and Chandima sensei,

I sincerely apologize my significant absence and delay on our selection process of

the ELF field site in Malaysia. We very much appreciated your great help and
kindness during our July visit in UMP and UniMAP. Thanks to that we were able
to obtain the great data there.

We now decided that we would like to install the first ELF sensor in UMP (Pahan)
due to much smaller electromagnetic interference. We carefully analyzed both
magnetic waveforms, power spectral density (PSD) and dynamic spectrograms of
the data having taken for a day for both sites (UMP and UniMAP). Then we found
that the data in UMP in ELF range was much quieter during day-night then that
in UniMAP despite showing some interferences in the high frequencies.

What we propose is that we will be in the same project and can fully share the data
once we will install the sensors in Pahan.

Now, if possible we would like to visit you (Pahan) for 5~6 days between 2/25 ~
3/7 (preferably from 3/1~3/6(7))for the formal installation of the sensors. Can
you provide me the possible period? Then I can book the flight and hotel. We will
visit you with Prof. Gomes.

Although there are some issues upon our installation.

(1) Is reusable energy facility available for installation?
(2) Is internet and power available there? - If internet will have a problem,
can we get some kind of WIFI connection locally? - but the data size ay be
bit large.
(3) Can we ask someone (a few students e.g.) to help installation making some
ditches for cables and sensors (not deep ~ 5cm for cable (flex pipe) and 10 cm for
antenna (180 cm x2)) with a remuneration (some payment)?
(4) Can we purchase such kind of pipe (similar one) e.g. shown in the web link
below to protect the cable (two cables) to be placed in the ditch?

I attached the brief information on the data obtained both in UMP and UniMAP
during our last visit.

+ Power spectral density (PSD) for 7/17 18:00 (LT) indicates that EM
environment is rather quiet except high frequency components (> 400 Hz for
East-West component).

Right : East-West magnetic time series(50 Hz and harmonics were removed)
+ELF transients (from lightning discharges) were identified. Noisier background
than UMP (7/19 18:20 (LT)).

(50 Hz and harmonics were removed)
Right : Power spectral density for East-West component
(50 Hz and harmonics were removed)

+ Power spectral density (PSD) indicates that EM environment is similar in low

frequency but much stronger 50 Hz and harmonics with frequency broadning,
Diurnal variation by spectrograms: up to 1000 Hz

UniMAP: 7/18 ⽇ 12:40 (UTC) ~ 7/19 12:30 (UTC)
+More noise in the high frequency in UMP. But rather quiet in low frequncy.
+Many spontaneous broad-band noises were observed in UniMAP.

UMP (Left: North-South, Right: East-West)

UniMAP(Left: North-South, Right: East-West)

+Schumann resonances seem to be observed in both stations. More noise in

UniMAP especially around power line emissions (~ 50 Hz) entire day.
