Summary of Practice 13

The decision to convert electronic health record is a formidable challenge for

physicians in this era, because the transition of EHR conversion will greatly affect their
practice or health network and does not guarantee the success. The AC Group, a respected
healthcare tech research organization (www.acgroup.com) informs that over 70% of EHR
implementations fail. However, the key to the success of an organizational decision is
adequate preparation which is realized in the form of practice, determination, and
teamwork. Physicians implementing health information technology (HIT) must accept the
same approach and recognize the risk and consequences of failure, including high cost
losses.
Therefore, it is necessary to consider the important steps in the world of healthcare
IT to accomplish the conversion process as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible, as
well as not be a distraction from patient care. Basically, the change to an electronic patient
records to improve patient care and enhance the satisfaction of physician and patient.
