POVERTY: TO KILL IT IF WE DO IT
Most of the countries, including the Philippines, are still experiencing poverty.
Nowadays, in our country, poverty still remains, and is expanding. It is the greatest
visible issue, especially when you are about to open your eyes in every corner of the
places here in the Philippines. One will see huge grumpy faces in both urban and rural
communities just by mere reason of not having sufficient means to maintain a healthy
lifestyle. Though people are trying to efface these looks on their faces, their dark
situations just can’t stretch a smile at all.
There are several causes why a lot of people are facing poverty in the
Philippines. One of these is the low economic growth. The other one is the imbalance
of the distribution of incomes. The rich earns higher profit than the poor. It is unequal
distribution of income which causes the rich to become richer, while the poor will
become poorer. Also, the government cannot provide education for all as it cannot
sustain and afford to get it done with just a snap of fingers.
As poverty will continue to worsen, the people will suffer and experience
consequences they have no control of. One of these is having health problems. Since
they cannot provide themselves a good shelter, and cannot provide their needs, they
are driven near owning some health problems.
Moreover, poverty increases the crime rate, as poverty causes people from being
desperate for money, and do crimes for easy cash.
Lastly, one of the effects of poverty is child labor, since they no longer go to
school, they are being pushed to work in order to survive. With that, they are more
likely to not succeed, and continue the trail of poverty in the forthcoming generations.
Truly, lots of people suffer from this tragic reality, and to cut the trail, we
should solve the causes such as low economic growth, unequal distribution of wealth,
lack of quality education, lack of employment opportunities, overpopulation and
corruption. It may not be as easy as counting one to three, and singing the ABC, but
only if we implore the kind spirit in ourselves, make use of what we know, and make
do of what we only have, this problem might as well downgrade on its own. Yes, only
if we go hand-in-hand, we can make things possible. Why not? As the proverbial
goes, a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
Since it is a chain, solving this dilemma will minimize, if not totally eradicate,
hunger, health issues, crimes and child labor. Nothing goes wrong with goodness,
after all. By fostering good acts to benefit one another, the world will turn 360
degrees, and just become a place we all long it to be. We might not be able to do it
overnight, but at the least, we are still envisioning a habitable place where comfort of
living is not compromised.
