The basic principles of instructional design
Instructional design is based on three psychological
principles of learning: behavioral, cognitive, and
constructivist.
Behavioral psychology advocates repetition and
reinforcement in learning material to create a
“behavior” in the learners.
The steps of the Instructional design process
1. Step 1: Analyze Requirements
2. Step 2: Identify Learning Objectives
3. Step 3: Develop Design
4. Step 4: Create a Storyboard
5. Step 5: Develop Prototype
6. Step 6: Develop Training
7. Step 7: Deliver Training
8. Step 8: Evaluate Impact
4 instructional design models
1. The ADDIE Model. ADDIE stands for Analyze,
Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate
2. Bloom’s Taxonomy (Revised)
3. Gagne’s nine Events of Instruction
4. Merrill’s Principles of Instruction
Why do we use Instructional design models?
An instructional design model is a tool, a framework to develop
instructional materials.
It helps instructional designers provide a structure and meaning
to the learning material.
These models provide guidelines to ensure training addresses
the learning objectives and meets the desired expectations.
