Assignment 2: Describe your own 'constitution'

The constitution that I find the most adequate to possess the title of my own
“constitution” is Estatutos de la Asociación de Estudiantes WATERPOLO UAM.

The community reunited by this document is a waterpolo team held by

Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. The association was founded by the community of
participants of an activity called waterpolo, offered by UAM´s Sport Center, who
wanted the team to be recognized on University level. An institutional recognition
guarantees a privilege of using a name UAM while participating in a competition. It
also makes the association a part of the community of student’s associations and its
advantages: right to vote crucial decisions about sport services and access to public
founding.

The creation of the document was a common effort of all the members of the
team. To register an association is a duel against Spanish bureaucracy that requires
skills and patience. The players from law school was the ones who compelled the
document after the postulates about its content were properly debated by the quorum of
the team. Our constitution has a special place in our hearts. We were the ones who
wanted the team to become an official member of the community. We were the ones
who decided what components are indispensable, meaning the form of the document,
but also to make sure that the declaration includes values that leaded us to play this
dangerous, but honorable sport.

By the document, all players are equal besides gender or their capacities to the
sport. The team is mixed, which means that both male and female players are
participating in all the activities upon the same rights. No disrespectful treatment. Every
player has a right to participate in a league and in any friendly games organized by the
association. The document specifies the self-government of the association, meaning the
Asemblea General where all the important issues are to be treated. Asamblea is
composed by all the members of the association and is held by eligible Board of
Directors. The style of governing was established by the contract of all members of the
team who, in unanimous way, declared their will to be a part of the proces of making
decisions. The establishment of the association converted a group of players who were
attending the activity into legally recognized team. Our populus was reinforced by legal
power to become a small society. A society which carta magna is Estatutos de la
Asociación de Estudiantes WATERPOLO UAM, that is open to all who are interested
into practicing waterpolo in a name of our alma mater Universidad Autónoma de
Madrid. To all who declares to fair play in the team, independently of sport and cultural
backgrounds, gender, nationality or sport skills. Always by love to waterpolo and will to
play by rules established by FINA. To the profit of the team and to the glory of the
name of UAM.
