GT#22

.Daily report for 05.03.2020 as follows


GT-22 heater element tightness check has been
completed. All the spare element has been used
as mentioned earlier. Heater element resistance
on both the stages are balance 0.8 Ohms
between all the phases. Heater IR on stage-1 is 60
Mega Ohms and stage-2 is 12 mega ohms. Field
cable termination has been completed.
Scaffolding has been erected for dismantling of
thyristor from GT-30 & 22. Thyristor from GT-30
& 22 has been removed as requested by SEC.
Thyristor from GT-30 has been installed in GT-22.
Fuses of 4 numbers has been replaced in GT-22.
Balance 2 fuses will be replaced tomorrow and
control for the Thyristor also will be terminated
tomorrow. So GT-22 will be made ready by
tomorrow
2.3.2020
GT-22 panel was shut down in the morning and
heater side field cable termination has been
removed. Measured the Heater resistance on
stage-1 was about 0.8 Ohms and stage 2 was 0.7
Ohms. Heater IR on stage-1 was about 103 M
ohms. Stage 2 IR was showing some sort of short.
Bus bar has been disconnected from the heater
side to check the tightness of individual element
and find out the faulty element. After removing
the main vertical bus bar, we found all the
element was healthy and none of the element
was short. One of the element lead turned black
which may be due to lose connection in fourth
row from top. Also one of the bus bar has been
melted slightly on one of the element lead in 8th
row

heater inspection and tightness work carried out.
Total 3 lead of bus bar was found cut while
tightening of bus bar, due to this reason 3
element has been bypassed

GT-22 one of the element lead thread was
damaged due to this reason as well we have
bypassed that element as well. So totally 7 spare
element has been taken in service, because of
bus bar and terminal issue. While preparing to
connect the spare element on stage-2 of R-phase
nut & bolt for spare connection 4 numbers got
damaged, due to this reason SEC has requested to
use the bus bar from GT-30. Thyristor cover has
been opened up as requested by the third party
inspector. SEC request to swap the thyristor with
GT-30. Got the confirmation from UK office to
proceed to swapping of thyristor from GT22 to
30. So Panel side top cover has been opened up
and side cover has opened up for removal of
thyristor

GT#24

Permit was issued for GT-22 and 24 heater and
panels alone. Heater of GT-24 has been inspected
and found field cables not terminated on the
heater. Measure the heater resistance and found
to be balance. Measure the heater Insulation
Resistance(IR) value was only 340 Kilo ohms. One
number of Spare element has been used in both
the stages. Field cable has been terminated.
Requested SEC to operate the heater in local
mode for IR improvement. Waited for SEC to
energize Heater-24 and run it in local mode.
Similarly Heater-22 was not shut down from
upstream side. Due to which heater tightness
check not carried out on heater side
