SECTION 1 - FAQ’s

WHAT IS BEAST TAPE – KINESIOLOGY TAPE?

BEAST TAPE is a therapeutic tape that can benefit a wide variety of

musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions.
It can also be used to stabilise weak areas and enhance your sports
performance.

BEAST TAPE is almost identical to human skin in both thickness and

elasticity which allows the tape to be worn without binding, con-
stricting or restriction of your movement.

BEAST TAPE is essentially made up of the following Ingredients:

• 180% Elastic Cotton Material (Latex Free)

• Heat Activated Acrylic Adhesive

Simple Huh? So Why is it Revolutionary and Different To Traditional

Sports Strapping?

BEAST TAPE differs from traditional strapping tape in both form

and function. Most types of strapping tape are non-elastic, and are
wrapped tightly around an injured joint or muscle to provide rigid
support and restrict movement. They can only be worn for short pe-
riods of time, after which they must be removed to restore move-
ment and circulation.

BEAST TAPE on the other hand, has unique elastic properties that al-
low it to provide dynamic support, protecting muscles and/or joints,
while still allowing a safe and functional range of motion. Rather than
being wrapped completely around injured joints or muscle groups,
BEAST TAPE is applied directly over and/or around the periphery of
these areas. This non-restrictive type of taping allows most applica-
tions to be worn for a recommended 3 days, allowing the therapeutic
benefits to accumulate 24/7 for the entire time they’re worn - signifi-
cantly accelerating the healing process from trauma, injuries and
inflammatory conditions.

Here’s the Best Bit! BEAST TAPE can be worn during intense ex-
ercise, showering, bathing or swimming, and dries quickly after a
quick pat with a towel - and it looks good ;)

Gotta Love That!

7
Not Just For Injury - Check Out The Top 8 Benefits Below!
Kinesiology tape has a comprehensive array of therapeutic benefits.
Because it can be left on for up to 3 days, these therapeutic benefits
are available to the injured area 24 hours a day, significantly accel-
erating the healing process from trauma, injuries and inflammatory
conditions.

1. Pain Relief

Kinesiology taping relieves pain through both physical and neuro-

logical mechanisms. The lifting action of the tape relieves pressure
on pain receptors directly under the skin, allowing for quick relief
from acute injuries. Chronic pain is affected through sensory stimu-
lation of other types of nerve fibres, this is especially effective for
pain that persists after an injury has healed or for pain that is out of
proportion to the severity of an injury.

2. Reduced Swelling, Inflammation and Bruising

Reduced pressure on the lymphatic drainage channels enhances

the removal of fluids and other materials that collect in an injured
area.

3. Prevention or Relief from Spasms and Cramping

Enhanced circulation to working muscles helps deliver oxygen and

nutrients at the cellular level as well as accelerate the removal of
waste products in the muscle.
Both of these mechanisms can help prevent or relieve spasms and
cramps in overused or injured muscles.

4. Speedier Recovery of Overused Muscles

Fatigued, overused muscles contain byproducts of exercise (such

as lactic acid) that contribute to pain and stiffness and limit the abil-
ity to continue exercising. When kinesiology tape is used over these
areas, enhanced removal of these byproducts allows for more rapid
recovery. This could translate into improved performance in endur-
ance events or more complete recovery between repetitive, high in-
tensity events.

5. Structural Support for Weak or Injured Body Parts

The unique elastic properties of kinesiology tape allow it to provide

support to an injured muscle or joint, discouraging harmful move-
ments while still allowing a safe, healthy range of motion.

8
6. Enhanced Strength and Muscle Tone in Weak or Injured Muscles

Loss of strength or muscle tone can result from pain, injury or a va-
riety of neurological or muscular disorders. In these situations, the
weakness can interfere with the ability to do the exercises that are
critical to recovery or improving daily functioning. Kinesiology tape
not only provides support to these areas, but it can also improve
neurological muscle activation, allowing therapeutic exercises to be
carried out more effectively.

7. Allows Athletes to Remain Active while Injured

This is one of the most important benefits of Kinesiology Tape for

competitive athletes. Injuries can be taped to relieve pain, minimize
inflammation and provide support for injured structures, without
compromising a healthy range of motion.
Except in the case of severe injuries, this can allow athletes to con-
tinue training and/or competing as their injuries heal.

8. It’s Drug-Free!

The profound effects kinesiology tape has on pain, inflammation and

performance are related solely to its physical interaction with the
skin and the neurosensory receptors in the skin. Kinesiology tape
contains no medications or analgesic ingredients. The unique prop-
erties of kinesiology tape combined with kinesiology taping tech-
niques allow it to affect the body in ways that cannot be duplicated
by any other form of sports tape.

9
How Does Beast Ta pe Work?
So putting it all together simply - IT’S ALL IN THE BIO-MECH ANICS!

BEAST TAPE has been specifically designed with a bio-mechanical

lifting mechanism that lifts skin away from the soft tissue underneath
– this allows more blood flow and oxygen to the weak area to accel-
erate healing & active recovery for the full time the tape is worn.

BEAST TAPE has also been designed with the best adhesion and
waterproof technology to give you long lasting relief.

By anchoring the tape and then applying the correct amount of

stretch of tape over the affected muscle, allows the muscle to be ex-
ternally supported whilst also allowing for the blood to move freely
to the affected area, helping active recovery. More importantly for
you, it means you can still perform at your best with confidence.

And Remember - For Best Results - wear Beast Tape for up to 3 days
to enhance healing and recovery - phew!

LEGS

1) KNEE APPLICATION
Knee pain can be caused by any number of issues. Muscle imbal-
ances, poor running form, misaligned hips or poor posture, poor nu-
trition, overtraining, compensation for another injury, hyperexten-
sion, arthritis, and blunt trauma to ligaments are just a few of the
most common causes of knee pain.

BEAST TAPE helps treat any of these conditions by relieving pres-

sure, providing stability, and improving muscle function in the knee.
Common injuries such as runner’s knee or patella tendonitis, jump-
er’s knee, patella tracking, arthritis, meniscus tears, plica, patel-
lofemoral pain, and general instability can all be best addressed by
using the full knee support application.
With this application you will get support, pain relief, and normal
body mechanics without restricting motion or circulation like other
treatments.

REMEMBER!
• APPLY BEFORE YOUR ACTI VITY - Apply 30 mins before beginning
activity
• CLEAN THE SKIN - Always apply on clean dry skin

2) BACK OF KNEE APPLICATION

Pain at the back of the knee can be caused by many issues but the
main one tends to be overuse which causes swelling or inflamma-
tion. BEAST TAPE helps treat this condition by relaxing and support-
ing the muscles, reducing pressure in the area of pain, and increas-
ing circulation.

For Best Results - As the pain subsides, light progressive stretching

should be implemented along with massage.

TIP: Use this application in combination with the full knee support
application for maximum effect.

REMEMBER!

3) CALF APPLICATION

One of the more common injury issues we all face - the calf mus-
cles are responsible for extending the foot in the push-off phase of
running, walking, jumping and even climbing stairs to name but a
few. We use these muscles every day and they are often subjected
to soreness as a result of overuse injuries such as inflammation and
tissue damage.

BEAST TAPE helps treat by relaxing the muscles, increasing circula-

tion, and reducing pressure.

TIP: Rest, ice, and compression will also be valuable treatments for
this injury.

4) GROIN APPLICATION

Groin strains, tears, or pulls usually occur after activity involving

multiple changes in direction or excessive stretching or lunging mo-
tions. Any full contact sport puts an individual at greater risk of groin
strains due to the variability in motion and the jarring nature of con-
tact sport.

Symptoms include tightness, discomfort or pain, and possibly swell-

ing or bruising in severe cases.

BEAST TAPE can relax and support the strained muscles as well as
provide pain relief and reduce swelling. A combination of light pro-
gressive stretching and KT
Tape will help get you active again in a much shorter time.

REMEMBER!
• APPLY BEFORE YOUR ACTI VITY - Apply 30 mins before beginning
activity

15
5) QUAD/THIGH APPLICATION

The Quad Muscles are the large set of powerful muscles that span
the front of the thigh from the hips to the knees and act as hip flexors
and knee extenders.

Causes of quad pain may include overuse, dehydration, muscle

strains or tears, impact on the muscle, or rapid deceleration. Sprint-
ing and Jumping are often causes of the microtears and will feel
tender to the touch.

BEAST TAPE can help treat this condition by supporting and increas-
ing blood circulation to the area for healing and pain relief.

TIP: Combine Taping with light stretching, foam rolling, icing after
activity, and appropriate rest in order to speed healing.

REMEMBER!
• APPLY BEFORE YOUR ACTI VITY - Apply 30 mins before beginning

16
6) GLUTE APPLICATION

The glute muscles are the three main muscles that make up the but-
tocks. These muscles rotate the hip to the outside, extend the trunk
of the body, and perform movements such as the squat and lunge.

Causes of glute pain may include overuse, hip misalignment, mus-

cle imbalances, sitting or standing for long periods of time, or swift
changes in training. It can often feel like a “knot” in the muscle which
can get inflamed.

BEAST TAPE helps treat this condition by relaxing the overworked

muscles and increasing circulation.

TIP: Rest, massage and foam rolling can be used in conjunction with
BEAST TAPE to help speed up the recovery and relief process.

REMEMBER!
• APPLY BEFORE YOUR ACTI VITY - Apply 30 mins before beginning
activity
• CLEAN THE SKIN - Always apply on clean dry skin
• CUT RO UND CORNERS - For best results, round the corners for
better adhesion

7) HAMSTRING APPLICATION

Hamstring strains generally occur most often in people who are very
active and it often increases with age. Strains are generally caused
by bursts of speed or an abrupt change in direction.

Inadequate flexibility, lack of sufficient training prior to sport, mus-

cle fatigue, poor form, and return to activity prior to complete heal-
ing of a prior injury are all potential causes of a hamstring injury.
Hamstring problems can be very painful and keep you off your feet
for quite some time if not treated properly.

In less severe hamstring strains, the tearing is microscopic. The

muscle fibers are essentially stretched too far, and some bleeding
occurs within the muscle. In very severe hamstring strains, the ham-
string muscle can completely rupture, and may require surgery to
repair the torn ends of the muscle. Pain can range from nagging
to severely sharp and radiating.

BEAST TAPE can be used to increase circulation and relax the in-
jured muscle and provide pain relief.

TIP: Combine taping with light stretching, foam rolling, icing after
activity, and appropriate rest to speed healing.

REMEMBER!
• APPLY BEFORE YOUR ACTI VITY - Apply 30 mins before beginning
activity

8) SCIATICA APPLICATION

Sciatica describes the symptoms of leg pain and possibly tingling,

numbness or weakness that originates in the lower back and travels
through the buttock and down the large sciatic nerve in the back of
the leg.

Sciatica is often characterized by one or more of the following symp-

toms:
• Constant pain in only one side of the buttock or leg (rarely can oc-
cur in both legs)
• Pain that is worse when sitting
• Burning or tingling down the leg (vs. a dull ache)
• Weakness, numbness or difficulty moving the leg or foot
• A sharp pain that may make it difficult to stand up or to walk

Sciatic pain can vary from infrequent and irritating to constant and
incapacitating.

BEAST TAPE can help this condition by increasing blood flow and
relieving pressure and pain.

TIP: Use BEAST TAPE before you go to bed or are sitting for long
periods for this condition as sciatica can often feel worse when im-
mobile. USe in conjunction with massage and foam rolling.

REMEMBER!
• APPLY BEFORE YOUR ACTI VITY - Apply 30 mins before beginning
activity
• CLEAN THE SKIN - Always apply on clean dry skin
• CUT RO UND CORNERS - For best results, round the corners for
better adhesion
• END ANCHOR BOTH ENDS - Apply 2-3 inches of the tape with NO

end of the application too.
• ACTI VATE ADHESION - Rub vigourously after application to acti-
vate the adhesive
Lie down.
Anchor tape at top of thigh
and run to area above ankle.
No stretch.

19
9) IT BAND APPLICATION

The IT Band, or iliotibial band, is a thick band of fibrous tissue that

runs down the outside of the leg. It begins at the hip and extends to
the outer side of the shin (tibia) just below the outside of the knee
joint. The band functions in coordination with several of the thigh
muscles to provide stability to the outside of the knee.
Pain in this area is often caused by overuse and/or compensation for
other injury and pain in the body.

RUNNING and CYCLING activities are prone to pain in the ITB - in

fact issues with the ITB constitutes about 12% of injuries in these
sports and is also the common cause of lateral knee pain.

BEAST TAPE can help reduce inflammation and decrease pressure

to relieve the pain.

TIP: Use in conjunction with light progressive stretching, massage,

foam rolling and icing will help to reduce symptoms for best results.

20
10) SHIN SPLINTS APPLICATION

Overuse in activities like running, jogging, or cycling can result in

various types of inflammation in the shin muscle and can cause what
we call “shin splints”.
New activities, changing running surfaces or frequent activity on
hard surfaces, wearing poorly fit or worn shoes, a drastic increase
in activity, or running on uneven surfaces can also make an individ-
ual more susceptible to development of shin splints.

Initially the pain may be very similar to other kinds of tendonitis in

that it will start off sharp and then decrease as the body “warms
up”. The pain then generally returns upon the end of activity.
Symptoms usually occur on the front edge of the shinbone and can
be recreated when bending the foot upwards or when pressed.

BEAST TAPE can help relieve the pressure and strain on the tissue
as well as relax the muscles of the shin. It can also increase circula-
tion to help reduce inflammation.

NB: As the condition worsens the pain is constant and could result
in stress fractures if not managed properly.
Consult your healthcare professional!

TIP: Use the following additional therapies to help speed the recov-
ery process:

Invest in the correct footwear for foot type

• Run on softer surfaces
• Correct form
• Stretch and warm up prior to activity
• Massage
• Foam Rolling the area pre and post activity
• Decrease stride length

REMEMBER!
• APPLY BEFORE YOUR ACTI VITY - Apply 30 mins before beginning
activity
• CLEAN THE SKIN - Always apply on clean dry skin
• CUT RO UND CORNERS - For best results, round the corners for
better adhesion
• END ANCHOR BOTH ENDS - Apply 2-3 inches of the tape with NO
STRETCH to the skin to anchor the tape. Remember to do this at the
end of the application too.

ANKLES/FEET
1) ACHILLES HEEL APPLICATION

Achilles Tendonitis or Achilles Heel is a common issue amongst

athletes - this is due to the fact that during physical activity, 8-10 x
our body weight acts on the tendon, putting the tendon under great
strain. It can withstand a lot but due to overuse it is susceptible to
wear and tear - a bit like tyres on a car!

Issues generally occur after abrupt changes in activity or training

level, use of poorly fitted or worn footwear, or training on uneven or
dense running surfaces.

Achilles injuries range from inflammation to a breakdown in the ten-

don. Pain is generally felt low on the back of the heel due to the low
vascularity and susceptibility for inflammation. Pain higher on the
Achilles is generally more muscular pain and less tendonitis.

BEAST TAPE helps treat this condition by increasing circulation and

support. Use even when not indulging in high level activity as achil-
les pain can be just as painful when walking.

TIP: Along with taping - icing, and massage can help with this condi-
tion.

REMEMBER!
• APPLY BEFORE YOUR ACTI VITY - Apply 30 mins before beginning
activity
• CLEAN THE SKIN - Always apply on clean dry skin
• CUT RO UND CORNERS - For best results, round the corners for

2) HEEL PAIN APPLICATION

Like the Achilles, the heel takes a great deal of repetitive force with
every step and can become susceptible to injury and pain as those
steps become forceful. Causes of heel pain may include overuse,
repetitive impact, poorly fitting or worn shoes, or ankle or calf tight-
ness.

This BEAST TAPE application can help general heel pain by provid-
ing

3) PLANTAR FACIITIS APPLICATION

The plantar fascia, or arch tendon, is a thick band of connective tis-

sue that runs from the heel to the front of the foot. In normal function
the plantar fascia acts as a shock absorber and support mechanism
for the arch of the foot. During gait, or movement, the plantar fas-
cia acts like a spring to conserve energy and provide propulsion - a
natural shock absorber and accelerator!

Plantar Faciits or Arch pain may be triggered by overtraining, poor-

fitting or worn shoes, weight gain, over pronation, or abnormal foot
structure.

BEAST TAPE helps treat this condition by offering support for the
arch serving to relax the foot and reduce inflammation.

TIP: Tape in conjunction with reduced activity, stretching the calves,

massage therapy, weight loss in overweight individuals, foam roll-
ing, ice, and NSAIDs.
Additional recommendations include:
• Wear appropriately fit shoes with the appropriate support
• Stretch well prior to exercise
• Avoid hard surfaces
• Avoid long periods of standing still
• Implement multiple activities for cardiovascular exercise such as
swimming, cycling, rowing, etc.

4) BUNION APPLICATION

A bunion results when the big toe points towards the second toe
and results in inflammation of the tissue surrounding the joint. The
inflammation causes the joint to become swollen and tender, making
everyday activities like walking or jogging very painful. Pain is usu-
ally very achy and typically radiates to the toes and along the arch
of the foot.

BEAST TAPE can help correct this misaligned joint to relieve pain
and pressure over time, as well as increase blood flow to the area for
increased anti-inflammatory effect and pain relief

TIP: Unrestricted footwear should always be chosen for those with

bunions - so no point shoes girls! ;)
No-invasive Surgery is another option for those with serious pain
and worsening symptoms.

NECK /SHOULDERS/BACK

1) NECK APPLICATION

Generally neck pain can be categorised into 2 conditions: 1) Muscle

Strain and 2) Myofascial Strain

1. Muscle strain can occur when there is an injury to the muscles

of the neck, causing spasm of the cervical and upper back mus-
cles. The strain may result from the physical stresses of every-
day life, including poor posture, muscle tension from psychologi-
cal stress, or sleeping on it awkwardly. Symptoms include pain,
stiffness, and tightness in the upper back or shoulder.

2. Myofascial pain causes tight and tender areas of muscle that

are sensitive to pressure. Myofascial pain in the neck can devel-
op after trauma or with other medical conditions such as stress,
depression, or insomnia.

BEAST TAPE can help treat neck strain/pressure by relaxing the

muscles, providing support, increasing circulation around the af-
fected area, as well as reducing pressure on the myofascial tender
spots – all to promote the body’s natural healing processes.

TIP: In conjunction with BEAST TAPE you can also try posture im-
provement, massage, foam rolling, chiropractic adjustments, and
ice

2) SHOULDER APPLICATION

The shoulder is a complex and relatively unstable joint. There are

many muscles and forces that act on the shoulder, and when any
of these is overactive or underactive, problems can arise. Potential
causes of shoulder pain may include overuse, stress to the area,
ligament or tendon damage, or muscle tears.

BEAST TAPE increases circulation, improves biomechanics, reduc-

es the pressure over the injured area and offers support and stabil-
ity to the shoulder. Particularly good for push and pull movements
during weight bearing or bodyweight exercises.

REMEMBER!

3) LOWER BACK APPLICATION

Low back pain can be caused by hip misalignments, sitting or stand-

ing for long periods of time, overuse or muscle strain.

The pain is often the result of mechanical conditions such as disk

disease, fractures, or other breakdowns of the spinal structure.
Rarely do issues involving inflammation or nerve damage cause low
back pain, but research suggests that misalignments of the spine or
hips could also contribute to bilateral low back pain.

BEAST TAPE relieves pressure and pain, provides support, and in-
creases circulation to promote the healing process. Relief is gener-
ally felt immediately and allows the body to return to a healthy pos-
ture and normal function.

ARMS/HANDS

1) TENNIS ELBOW APPLICATION

Tennis Elbow is the inflammation of the outside portion of the el-

bow resulting in soreness and tenderness. Causes of tennis elbow
may include overuse, racquet sports, or gripping objects too tightly
- such as barbells, dumbells, chin ups etc…

BEAST TAPE can help treat this condition by relieving pressure, re-
laxing associated muscles, and increasing circulation to promote
healing.

2) BICEP PAIN APPLICATION

Bicep pain can be caused by a number of issues including muscle

tears, pinched nerves, ligament or tendon damage, or swollen lymph
nodes – among other things. Lifting too much weight, catching a
heavy object, or repeated strain on the muscle and tendons can lead
to pain in the biceps.

BEAST TAPE can help relieve the pain in the bicep by relaxing a
damaged muscle, increasing blood flow to reduce inflammation, or
relieving pressure.

3) FINGER JAM APPLICATION

“Finger Jam” or a “Jammed Finger” is a term that refers to the many

injuries of the ligaments and soft tissue around the small joints of
the fingers.

Jammed fingers are very common in ball handling sports or activi-

ties where there is a high degree of catching objects.

BEAST TAPE can help stabilize the joint without locking it down, al-
lowing for comfort and promoting healing to occur more rapidly.

TIP:
• Rest, ice, and NSAIDs can be very helpful in treating both the in-
flammation and the pain.
• If pain does not subside within the first 12 hours and a medical
professional has not been consulted, see a clinician to properly di-
agnose the sprain and identify any fractures or dislocations.

Causes of wrist pain are varied and can overuse in sports, landing
on an outstretched hand, carrying heavy loads or RSI type injuries.

BEAST TAPE will take pressure off of the wrist, help facilitate normal
movement and decrease inflammation. As a result of the decreased
inflammation and support, pain will quickly decrease.

SECTION 4
TAPING FOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT

In This Section Check Out The Best Taping Techniques to Enhance

Your Performance

1) CORE CHAIN
Your core most often acts as a stabilizer and force transfer center
rather than a prime mover. By stabilising the core, it acts as a pivot
for the rest of your main movements to improve strength gains, more
efficient movement, and longevity of health.

This taping technique will allow us to do the following:

1. Achieve core stability to protect the spine and surrounding mus-

cles from injury in both static and then dynamic movements - ie:
Standing and lifting/pulling etc...

2. Transfer and produce force during dynamic movements while

maintaining core stability. This can include running, performing
Olympic lifts/pulls or picking up the gallon of milk far back in the
fridge while helping keep your back safe.

BEAST TAPE with this application can help stabilise the core to
transfer more efficient movement during dynamic training as well
as protecting the surrounding areas from injury.

TIP: Use predominantly in running, lifting/pulling/jumping move-

ments

2) POSTERIOR CHAIN

Posterior chain strength is of paramount importance for any athlete

or fitness fan, but many neglect the p-chain to focus on quad-domi-
nant, anterior chain exercises.
However a strong p-chain makes a strong athlete. You can obviously
do a lot of p-chain strengthening exercises, however if you would
like a bit of help stabilising this chain particularly whilst performing
explosive movements such as: Olympic Lifting, Kettlebell Swings,
Sprinting, Jumping, Deadlifting etc… then use this taping technique
to provide the EXTRA stability and strength.

5) HAND SORENESS AND STABILITY

From Deadlifting to Kettle Bell swings, our hands take on a lot of

strain and can sometimes overcompensate for the weaker muscles
we are trying to work. This application will help stabilise the hand
and wrist to not only avoid injury but also ensure that our hands
compensate for the dynamic muscle movement we are performing -
WITHOUT reducing range of motion ;)

7) ANKLE STABILITY

We’ve all been there, rolling over on our ankles whilst running, jump-
ing or even walking. Ankle instability or weakness can lead to chron-
ic sprains and tearing of ligaments and tendons and lead to other
injuries.

This application can be used for a variety of ankle issues including

ankle sprains, stretched ligaments, inflamed tendons, or general an-
kle weakness. The added support will give you the confidence and
support during the rehabilitation phase of an injury as well as the
stability and pain relief during activity.

Use BEAST TAPE to provide support without limiting your range of

motion or decreasing your blood flow.
