COVID Update
On Tuesday, October 13, Phoenix Union received confirmation of a positive COVID-19 case involving a
student-athlete on the Betty H. Fairfax High School football team. Campus administration immediately
suspended all sports activities and began contact-tracing protocols. All individuals who had sustained
close contact with this student have been notified and asked to quarantine for 14 days. For individuals
not asked to quarantine, all athletic activities have resumed, following the deep cleaning of all impacted
areas. All other non-impacted football players and coaches have been notified.

On Thursday, October 15, Phoenix Union was made aware of possible COVID-19 exposure involving
the Alhambra High School and the Academies at South Mountain High School main offices. Both
instances involved individuals either showing symptoms or living with an individual who tested positive.
Out of an abundance of caution, PXU has closed both offices for the remainder of the week while a
deep cleaning occurs. Both offices will reopen on Monday, October 19. All individuals who had
sustained close contact with the anyone who showed symptoms have been asked to quarantine for 14
days. All other locations on each campus remain open and are operating on regular business hours.

PXU recently launched a COVID-19 Data Dashboard to provide benchmark and metric information for
our community and will soon publish positive cases within the District. To find this information and
information about all future cases of COVID in PXU, select COVID-19 Data at
