DESCRIBE THE NUTRITIONAL ADVICE YOU WILL GIVE TO YOUR FRIEND WHO IS HIV POSITIVE

 The virus weakens immune system, because the body uses nutrients up to the keep up defense
against germs. Hence eating well and health can help one the body to fight infections. Can boost
energy, keep one strong help one to avoid complications and ease the issues brought by
HIV/ADS treatments.
 The nutritional advice that I would keep to my friend who is HIV positive is to;
 Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
 They are high in antioxidants which protect immune system, so as to be
more effective .They should fill half of their plate with fruits and vegetables
at each meal.
 Go lean protein;The body use it to build
muscle and strong immune system.
 Choose whole grains;that is all grain curbs like brown rice and whole wheat
bread.They Tacked with energy –boosting B vitamins and tubers .And one
eating plenty of fibre ,it can lower the chances of getting fat deposit called
lipodystrophy, potential side effect of HIV
 Limit sugar and salt; HIV raise the chances of getting hard diseases because
of the virus and treatment.Too much sugar and salt can harm the ticker.
 Have health fat in moderation; fats provide energy but it also high calories.If
one is not trying to gain weight they should limit the quantity consumed
.Heart healthy choices include nuts vegetable oil and avocado.
 Eat the right amount of calories; most people with HIV often carry too much
weight .Being overweight or obese can raise your chances of getting long
term disease like heart disease ,diabetes and some cancer.
 Drinking plenty of fluids; to make sure they have at least 8-10 cups of water
or other healthy drinks each day. Liquids help carry nutrients and flush out
used medication from the body. They can also lift the energy level and keep
them from getting dehydrated.
 Follow food safety rules ;because HIV lowers the your body’s against germs’
one should practice those good-you-habits:

-Wash their hands with soap and water before and after eating

-avoid raw eggs, cook all meat, seafood and poultry until they are well

-Thaw frozen meat and other food in the fridge or microwave

-Rinse all fresh fruits and vegetables with clean water

-Check expirations dates and throw away food you think is old,

Reheat leftovers throughout before eating them.
