1. Logic (translation does not make sense, e.g. is incoherent, contradictory or otherwise
nonsensical)
2. Facts (translation is not true)

Group C- Problems of language and style


1. Smoothness (translation is not clear on first reading, e.g. is incohesive)
2. Tailoring (wrong choice of formality, technicality, tone, vocabulary)
3. Sub-language (wrong choice of words according to genre, field, etc)
4. Idiom (wrong word combination)
5. Mechanics (wrong spelling, punctuation, usage, house style, etc)

Group D- Problems of physical presentation


1. Layout (wrong margin, spacing, listing, etc)
2. Typography (wrong fonts)
3. Organization (wrong pages, references, numbering, headings, etc)

 Lexical error is an error in the choice of words, can be resolved simply by exchanging an
inappropriate word for a better one, with no change to the order of words and no need to
add or subtract other words around.
 Grammatical error can simply be an error in how the words are arranged, must be
resolved by changing word order or by adding or removing pieces that make up the
appropriate sentence structure.
 Formatting errors – double spaced, font, etc.
 Structural error means errors in sentence structure. Students commonly make
