ACTIVTY – Movie Analysis

In the movie “TEACHER’S DIARY” analyze/describe the following Components of the

Teaching Learning Process

1. The Learner

The students that is presented in the movie "Teacher's Diary" are living in the surface of
water with their family which the source of income is fishing. At their young age, some of them
already knew how to catch fish by the guide of their parents. They are in the different grade
levels in elementary from grade 1 up to 6. Many of them needs more lesson to understand when
it comes to the value of education. Need more encouragement to be push to pursue and continue
to go to school to study because in the environment they grown up, they think that fishing is their
only destination in life. Through the help of the educators, the students learned in the end the
purpose and value of education is really a life changer that serves as a key for them to achieve
their goal in life.

2. The Teacher

The teachers in the movie was in different persona which changed each perspective with the
help of each other. Mr. Song before was not really love to teach and don’t know the value of
every experiences that he encounters when he was still new to the place. But by the help of Ms.
Ann's diary, he had an inspiration to changed his perspective in teaching the valuable students
and become more passionate on what he was doing. Ms. Ann was a former teacher at that place
that decided to transfer in the city by the encouragement of his boyfriend. But because she really
loves to teach those children, she gave up on her personal relationship and continue to be more
passionate on teaching in the surface of water environment.

3. The Learning Environment

The school that is presented is made up of light materials which is built in the surface of the
water that can easily destroy by the storm. The electricity that is used is coming from the
generator provided by the school administration which is not enough to fully cover the whole
house with lights. Because of the distance from their home going to the learning place and the
transportation used which is the boat, the school also represents their home, the teachers also live
with the students in the whole weekdays and they going home in the weekends.
4. The Content/Teaching Strategy

In the movie, the teaching strategy is effective although it's very hard to deliver the lesson in
that teaching environment and the lack of materials. The students are still learning in many ways
that their teacher do to aid the sufficient materials to be use. The content of the lesson is based on
the level of understanding of the children up to its improvement. Their teaching strategy is very
helpful to the learners that can't go to the school in the city area that many of us used to go with.

5. The Curriculum

The curriculum in the movie is different from here because since the classroom in that place
is only one, variety of grade levels is inside the room, have the same class lesson which is
delivered by their teachers. But when they passed the semester they already go to the next grade
levels.

6. The Instructional Material

The teaching materials used is limited to in teaching the students not like here in the city,
many instructional materials and alternatives that can be used to have a better understanding on
the lesson. The educators there only used blackboard and chalk to inculcate knowledge to their
students. But despite of that, they pursue more to still provide quality education to the learners.

7. The Administration

The administration is strict when it comes to the rule of the school. They ensure the sake of
the students. The implementation of the rule in the school must be followed or else there is some
consequences in every action that the teachers will do. It's either a small or big violations, rule is
still a rule. The reason why Ms. Ann is removed to her previous school because of having a
tattoo in her wrist.
