You will not be allowed to write during the first 5 minutes.
This time is to be spent in reading the question paper.
The time given at the head of this paper is the time allowed for writing the answers.

You are advised to spend not more than 15 minutes in answering Question 1 and 10 minutes in
answering Question2.

Question 1

Write a composition (200 – 250) words on any one of the following: [20]

(a) Write a short story which brings out the truth of the saying, “Never judge a book by its
cover.’’
(b) ‘Boarding schools are better than day schools for the all-round education of a child’. Express
your views for or against this statement.
(c) Looking back at the last decade of your life, describe the events that have contributed to
shaping your personality.
(d) Narrate an incident which made you realise that forgiveness is nobler than revenge.
(e) Study the picture given below. Write a story or description or an account of what the picture
suggests to you. Your composition may be about the subject of the picture or you may take
suggestions from it.

Select any one of the following:

(a.) You are going to your grandfather’s house in Pune. You need someone to look after your pet
at home. Write a letter to your cousin requesting him to do this favour to you. Give necessary
information about your dog and it’s habits to him.
(b.) You have left behind your cell phone at a Coffee Shop. Write a letter to the manager to
inquire if it has been found. You will have to describe the phone, the time, the place and other
circumstances to help the manager trace your phone.

Question 3 [5 +5]

(a) Your school is conducting an inter-class talent search. Write out a notice to be put up in your
school informing students about the event and inviting them to participate.
(b) Write an e-mail to the Principal of a neighbouring school requesting him/her to send a team of
teachers to judge the event.

 Answers must be written on separate answer sheets and not on the question paper.
