2. This composition examination is divided into 2 parts. Attempt both Parts A and B on
the Answer Sheet.

b. write the topic number of the question you choose in the box provided.

4. Write on every line.

5. You are reminded of the importance of neat and tidy handwriting, careful planning and
proofreading.

6. Marks will be deducted if you do not follow the instructions.

Part A: Short Task (15 marks)
You are Chris(-tina) Wong, the chairperson of the Healthy Living Club. You are writing an email to your
schoolmates to encourage them to start a healthy hobby instead of playing smartphones or computer games all
the time.
Write the email to all students in 80-100 words telling them some suggestions of healthy hobbies and give two
reasons why they should pursue a healthier hobby.

Please note: You are reminded to use the language patterns you learnt from the LAC worksheets, such as
connectives and adjective patterns, to talk about purposes and methods.

Part B: Long Task (45 marks)

Write in 220 - 250 words for one of the following topics.

1. Writing a letter to a friend who is studying abroad

You are Chris(-tina) Wong, a Form Three student. A friend of yours has been studying abroad in France
since September last year. In France, she has met different problems, like not having many friends and
always feeling homesick.

Write a letter to her to give your advice. In your letter, give her at least 2 suggestions to solve the problems
and tell her how she can enjoy her learning in France. Also, give her encouragement in your letter.

2. Writing an article about learning STEM in schools

You are Chris(-tina) Wong, the chairperson of the Science Society. There is an increasing trend of Hong
Kong schools to promote STEM* learning, e.g. the use of app-inventors, m-bots and drones, since Junior
Forms.

Write an article to the school magazine discussing how STEM learning can benefit students. In the article,
give at least two advantages of STEM learning and tell your schoolmates what they should pay attention
while they are learning STEM. Give a title to your article.

3. Writing a story about superstitions

You are Chris(-tina) Wong, a Form Three student. You have joined a story writing competition on the theme
‘Superstitions’ to express your ideas of how being superstitious badly affects our lives.

In your story, write about how being superstitious caused trouble to the main character(s) and how he/ she/
they solved the problems. Your story must be interesting and inspirational.
