● Writing
The writing question is chosen among those studied in class and/or in the course book and the pack of that level.
The answer will be evaluated according to AUSFL Writing Criteria. (See sample layout & TIPS below.)
● Speaking
Part 1: Spoken Production: Each student is asked two individual questions and expected to answer them IN
DETAIL. They do NOT interact with their pairs or with the jury. (See sample layout & TIPS below.)
Part 2: Spoken Interaction: Students are asked one level-based discussion question with TWO options and
expected to share their opinions, views and/or thoughts on the topic with their pairs. The students are
required to interact with each other, taking turns, asking/answering questions and giving their opinions. They DON’T
HAVE TO agree OR disagree with their pairs and they can express their opinions/views about both options
so that they can answer the question with more details!
Remember:
✔ To read the instructions carefully before answering the questions at all times.
✔ To mark your answers on the optic form carefully within the time limit of the booklet! There will NOT be any
extra time for copying your answers on the booklet onto the optic form, and the answers on the booklet will
NOT be graded.
✔ To make sure you understand the writing question correctly and answer only to the question on the writing
exam paper. If your answer has NO RELEVANCE to the question, it will be graded accordingly.

own expectations.
● What do you do in your free time?
● Ask question(s) about the other members.
Remember:
⮚ Your text will be graded according to AUSFL Writing Criteria.
⮚ You should answer the question around the word limit, or your answer will lose points.
⮚ If your answer has no relevance to the question, it will be graded 1 out of 20 (5 out 100).
⮚ Your handwriting should be clear and easy to read.
TIP 3: Sometimes, the question has several prompts (items), so the instruction says: “You should
include:”
This means it is a GOOD IDEA for you to write about each of the prompts in an organized way because
they are probably important for this type of written text (task). So, trying to cover all the prompts will
make your text richer in content!
Still, remember: unless the instruction says “You must include:”, you DON’T HAVE TO cover ALL the
prompts (items) as long as you write your answer in an organized way with ENOUGH details!
WHEN the question DOES NOT have any prompts (probably because the question itself is enough or it is
an opinion paragraph or an essay, etc.), then you MUST FOCUS on the question and understand it
correctly! 2021-22 Spring Term – AUSFL Testing Office
TIP 4: WRITE your answer (text, paragraph, email, letter, essay, etc.) AROUND the WORD LIMIT!
In this sample question, it is a “text” and the word limit is BETWEEN 80-100 words.
This means, you must write an organized text and AROUND the 80-100 words (NOT too few; NOT too
many), as it is written in “Remember:” part above!

TIP 5: Make sure your text/email/paragraph/ essay/ etc. answers DIRECTLY and ONLY to the question on
this exam paper!
That means ALL the content (in your sentences or your whole text) is ONLY ANSWERING to the question
and the prompts if there are any.

TIP 6: Make sure your handwriting is CLEAR and EASY to read for your teachers – BAD and DIFFICULT to
read handwriting can prevent complete understanding…
