PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am an English Language and Education undergraduate student from Universitas

Kristen Satya Wacana who want to continue to study abroad. In my hometown, we can only
go abroad by working as TKI/TKW. Having much money can be another reason. This
perception makes me hooked to prove that knowledge can bring us to go abroad without
money by taking a scholarship program. I want to study English and Modern Language at
Oxford University. My desire to study at Oxford University is caused by the title of one of the
best colleges in the world. This college is also produces qualified graduates. So, With my
ability to undertake to do things as best as possible with perseverance, I will not miss the
opportunity to participate in this scholarship program.

Strongly decent personalities and skills embedded since I was young. When I was in
high school and college, I was active to participate in some organizations. I can learn what
leadership, responsibility, and honestly is like. I had learned how to manage my time during
the busyness without disappointing others. Even had a problem, I tried to give my best. I
had had a good relationship with other people who had a different perspective from me.
This made me more able to overcome any situation that came into my life. The positive
impact that I got was also influential for people around me. With so many activities that I
must do, I learned to put aside my selfishness. Thinking that my life was not only for me but
also for those around me. Then I really like to speak English, so this hobby brought me to be
the winner of the 2015-2016 National Youth Student Debate Competition in PEM Akamigas
Cepu, Central Java. In this event, I struggled with two of my colleagues and successfully won
the title of the 1st champion.

Having great skills and personalities from my university are a prominent modal to me.
As an undergraduate student of English Language and Education program, I become one of
the students who have additional point compared with other participants who don't learn
English intensively in their college. Listening, writing, and reading skills have inventoried in
my mind. They are what I always practice all day. Actually, I think that my English skills are
still lacking if I don't improve my listening skill because the speed of the foreigners when
they are speaking is very different from Indonesian. So, This makes me excited to practice
day after day. It can be listening to the news or the radio. Then speaking in English is my
gladness. I like to speak English with my close friends thus far. It helps me to make my
pronunciation more fluently. I always find whether any speaking event or competition is
caught in my ear. I want to participate in any event of Debate Competition because it makes
feel the challenging atmosphere. By doing many tasks and activities I have ever experienced
in my college, I become a better person. It changes me to think about what will happen for
the next. So, I am the kind of person who is never late to do anything now because I always
manage my time well.

Becoming an English teacher motivated me to make something special for my students. I

just want to be a teacher. Not just an ordinary teacher, but become a teacher who is
knowledgeable. Being a teacher who is able to give positive vibes to the students. Creating a
familiar situation for a better understanding of the students' need. Motivating to the
students that finding a knowledge is boundless. Therefore, through this scholarship
program, I want to change the mindset of other people to know how important an
education is. I am also dreaming about the future of Indonesia, this country will be one step
ahead with another country.

In conclusion, I will use my experience, modal, and personality that I have along with a
university degree at Oxford University to attain my dream. By founding free schools and
helping mendicants to get their education right in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. So,
Indonesia will be an advanced country in education and have a prosperous life in all fields.
