Let’s play table tennis
1 Ask students to look at the picture
stories and discuss each couple and what
they are doing. Ask:
Where are they?
What sports/food/films can you see?
What do they say?
In the end, what do they do?
Elicit ideas.
2 Divide the class into pairs and hand out
the students’ worksheets.
Ask Student As to put their expressions in
order and ask Student Bs to do the same.
Students can check their answers in pairs
before practising the conversations.
Answers:
1 Let’s watch an action film tonight.
2 I don’t like action films.
3 How about a romantic film?
4 That’s a good idea.
5 Do you like romantic films?
6 Yes, they’re fantastic.
3 In pairs, students prepare conversations
based on the three picture stories.
Monitor and help with ideas and
vocabulary.
4 Ask different pairs to act out different
conversations. Ask the rest of the class to
listen and say where the man and woman
are.
5 Extension
Ask students to think of a different
situation for one couple and to prepare
and present a conversation (e.g. deciding
what to cook for dinner or watch on TV,
deciding where to go for the weekend or
on holiday).
6 Writing
Ask students to write up their
conversations for one of the picture
stories.
