Adult Medium (Adult Large)
Finished circumference 20“ (22”)
For Child’s size (finished circumference 18”), follow instruc-
tions exactly as given for Adult Medium, using the gauge given
for Child below. Instructions are written for Adult Medium
with Adult Large in parentheses.
MATERIALS
1 skein Manos del Uruguay MAXIMA (100% merino wool; ap-
prox. 218 yds,100g). Shown in M9298 Arctic Shadow (Child),
M7164 Ultramarine (Adult Medium) and M4370 Peach Melba
(Adult Large).
US 8/5mm ndls, spn or 24” circ, or size to obtain gauge
Waste yarn and crochet hook for cast-on
- Despite the simple appearance of this hat, this pattern uses
some intermediate techniques you should familiarize your-
self with before you begin. Some of these include provisional
cast-on, grafting/kitchener stitch, and shor t rows.
- This hat is knit sideways – the cast-on row runs ver tically
from the edge of the cuff to the top of the wearer’s head.
ABBREVIATIONS
LH: left-hand
RS: right side
W&T: slip next st purlwise, move yarn to front of work, slip st
