For the broad topic allocated to you, answer the following:

1. Write down your modified research topic 1 mark

Write a literature review of 200-300 words (using at least 1 article as 9
2. reference) marks

3. Develop 2 hypothesis in such a way so that the first hypothesis can be tested using correlation
analysis, and the second hypothesis can be tested using regression analysis. Write both alternate
and null hypothesis. In the brackets, also mention whether they are directional/non-directional
hypothesis

You can assume any dependent and independent variable when writing these hypotheses. The
only

condition is that the hypotheses have to be related to the research topic. 10 marks

4. For the 2 sets of hypotheses, what sampling technique do you think would be the best? Why?
Justify your

answer.
5 marks

5. Assume that you have collected data to test the hypotheses. You do not have to run SPSS
software to answer this question. But, in your script, answer the following:

a. Assume that you have run correlation test to test your first hypothesis. Now, you can
hypothetically assume any correlation output here (+1, +.02, 0, -0.5, -1 or any other
feasible figure). Once you have assumed the result, explain your answer, and tell us
whether you accept or reject the null hypothesis and why.

The main issue that I will assess here is whether you know all the points or issues that
you have to consider from the output window of SPSS in order to find out whether to

4|Page
accept/reject the null hypothesis. A tip: the value indicating the strength of correlation is
not the only number we

consider when analyzing our results 5 marks

b. Assume that you have run regression analysis to test your second hypothesis. Now, you
can hypothetically assume any regression output here. Once you have assumed the
result, explain your answer, and tell us whether you accept or reject the null hypothesis
and why. Explain all the relevant values that were taught in class with regards to your
regression analysis (More specifically, explain R2, regression equation, and p-value for
your test. You can assume any hypothetical figure here as part of your explanation).

The main issue that I will assess here is whether you know all the points or issues that
you have to consider from the output window of SPSS in order to find out whether to
accept/reject the null
hypothesis. 10 marks

Research topic: “The impact of watching YouTube videos on children”

5|Page
2 number answer

Literature review: YouTube now a days become more popular to the children now a days. Children are
more likely depend on YouTube watching different kinds of cartoon and different kinds of videos.
Some writer says that, this a period of significant development of knowledge and scholarly growth.
(Mitayani, 2010). The thing what is he seeing is must be impact on him and also influence his memory
and sometimes they learn many things. The writer also mentioned that, YouTube is a video site where
different kinds of 'moving pictures' shows and children can be depended upon, recent developments
focus on that few guardians gave their gadget and gave a video introduction on YouTube so the kid
didn't cry or upset the individuals around him (Saifa and Fadlilah, December 23, 2018). However, there
are also some parents who monitor their children what they are watching as those things do not create a
negative impact on them. Moreover, the writer also mention that can say that YouTube is not a bad
influencer its is keep on mind that how we use it. There is research gap, where it does not focus that the
watching a long duration also impact physically on the children. The writer also concludes by you tube
is not only use as entertainment media for children but they also can learn many things if they use
YouTube videos properly.

3.a) number answer:

6|Page
Hypothesis: The impact of watching YouTube videos on children create health problem.

Null: H (0) : you can either write, there is no positive relationship between watching you tube and
impact on health.
Alternative (H1): There is a positive relationship between watching you tube and impact on health.

Correlations

time how much
watching impact create

Sig. (1-tailed) .206
N 10 10
how much impact Pearson .293 1
create on health Correlation
Sig. (1-tailed) .206
N 10 10

Analysis/Decision: The analysis above shows that r= 0.293 and p=0.206. This indicates that there is a
somewhat strong positive relationship exist between watching you tube and impact on health which is
significant at 5%. Therefore, we reject the null hypothesis and conclude that, the children can use
YouTube and which impact on health. It is a directional hypothesis.

3.b) Regression analysis:

Y= bx+ a
Y =.117(-.286) +95.000
7|Page
Y = variable being predicted
b = slope of line
x= value of variable you already know
a = Y intercept

R = coefficient of determination

Analysis: R2=0.95 which indicates that independent variable can explain only 95% of the change in
dependent variable which is significant at 5% (.005). therefore, we fail to reject null hypothesis and
conclude by saying that this is not a good regression model. It is a directional hypothesis.

a. Dependent Variable: how much student use gadget

*In this both case in first case which I find out watching you tube and hamper in health where it
shows that this hypothesis is dependent on one another. Dependent variable is depending in
other, here the health impact is a Dependent variable. Secondly, the other scenario where I find
out that, how much children use gadget is the dependent variable and the second one is
independent variable where I find out the introvert level of the student.

4.Number answer
For the two set of hypotheses here I use the random sampling. Where I collect the sample randomly for
find out my hypothesis’s analysis. As we know that random sampling implies that the chance enters
into the process of selection the data. From where I can choose the data from number randomly and
input them. Where I use some number for my table to find out the output for my hypothesis’s analysis.
In the first table I randomly select some values to analyze my data weather to find out children
watching you tube. For my second hypotheses as well I also randomly chose the sample set of data to
find out my output.

5. number answer

a) As I run the co -relation test to test my first hypothesis where I use the significant level is 5% and
the p=0.206 value which is less than 5% or below the significant level. Here we can assume that, it is
statistically significantly. Then we will reject the null hypotheses, as we know that there is no
statistically significant difference between the two means but in my case show that there is significant
value so we accept alternative hypotheses, moreover if the correlation value is closer than +1 or the
value is 0 than it is weak significant here r= 0.00 Than it is belongs to weak significant level.

b) In my second regression analysis I want to run find the hypothesis values. First, I need to find out the
value of my R2=0.95 and then I will go for the significant value where I will get it from Anova where
it shows the significant level is .747 which is above the significant level and not a good model.
Considering the regression value, we cannot reject the null hypotheses as there is no statistically
significant difference.
