When will classes start?

Our first day of Online Classes for all grade levels will be on September 12, Saturday. Some
classes will have synchronous sessions on this day, others will have activities posted in the
courses (subjects) inside the Schoology LMS.

Please explain to us again how the lessons will be delivered.

Our online classes will be both SYNCHRONOUS and ASYNCHRONOUS.

During synchronous sessions, the students will need to be online, and they will join their
teacher and classmates in real-time discussions. Just like in a regular class, there is real- time
discussion, feedback and interaction inside a “virtual classroom.” Each class will have two
synchronous conferences in a week.

For asynchronous sessions, the students and the teacher do not see each other or interact
with each other in real-time. The students will have to work on the activities given by the
teachers within a flexible time frame. They can go online to access their courses (subjects) in
Schoology, download the materials and exercises, and work on the activities offline. These
materials include pre-recorded video lectures, slide presentations, notes, quizzes and links to
external resources.

By combining these two online learning modes, STEFTI hopes to accommodate the needs of those
families who (a) have difficult internet connection and cannot log in to real-time, online classes for
prolonged periods of time, and (b) have children in STEFTI belonging to different grade levels who
share a device at home and are therefore unable to log in at the same time.

Please see the attached schedules for the synchronous sessions of each class: SCHEDULES
FOR SYNCHRONOUS CONFERENCES

What will my child’s daily schedule look like?

The lessons for the week will be given on the preceding weekend. Teachers will publish the
lessons on Schoology, and the students can check the readings and activities. It is important
to check the instructions for the activities to ensure you don’t miss the deadline for each.

Each grade level will have different schedules. We are providing you a proposed daily learning
schedule for students to help the student and the adults at home in managing the schooling-at-
home time. The schedule takes into consideration the learning outcomes required of the students,
but also the necessary ‘brain breaks’ the students need to be productive and healthy.

You can check the daily schedule here: PROPOSED DAILY LEARNING SCHEDULE
Are students required to wear a uniform during synchronous classes?

We believe that what we wear while working or studying influences our disposition toward what
we do. Twice a week, during synchronous classes, students are required to wear any
presentable STEFTI shirt - PE shirt, team shirt, etc. The logo shirt will be available soon in the
office. If the student does not have any available STEFTI shirt, any clean, plain white shirt will
do for the time being.

Aside from having a computer or other devices with internet connection, what
materials should the students prepare?

Here is a list of the materials the students will need for their online classes: REQUIREMENTS

We have not yet received our Student Schoology Account nor our Parent Schoology
Account details. When are we going to receive the log-in details?
Students who completed their enrollment before the orientation (including payment of fees)
should have received their Schoology log-in details by now, and their parents should have
received the parent account details, too. If you haven’t yet, it could be because:
1. The email you provided during enrollment is incorrect, is inactive or has insufficient
storage. Nearly 200 emails that we sent out bounced because of these reasons.
2. The login credentials generated by the Schoology Tech Support team contained glaring
errors (e.g. wrong surname) and had to be re-enrolled in the Schoology system before
these could be sent out.
3. You did not indicate your email address during enrollment. We have dedicated staff
tracking down the email addresses of more than 200 students (some of you may
have received calls/text messages regarding this) but our email directory is still far
from complete.
We ask for your understanding and we also ask for your help. Please provide us your ACTIVE,
CORRECT email address. Do not text it, do not post it here in FB, and do not send it via
Messenger. Instead, email us at information@stefti.edu.ph using your current email address
so we can be sure it actually works. And please do not forget to write down the name(s) of
your child(ren) so we would know which login credentials to send you.
We received our Student Schoology Account and our Parent Schoology Account
details, but I can’t log in to my account/there were errors in my child’s name. Can you
correct the errors right away?

First, make sure you are logging in from the STEFTI Schoology site and not directly from
Schoology.com.

If you have communicated any errors in your child's account to STEFTI but do not find the
changes reflected yet: we kindly ask that you allow the Tech Support team some time to
process the request for corrections and to input these in the system (both in the Student
Account and the Parent's Access Account, which are stored separately).
But rest assured that your child's correct full name, grade level and section will be
sorted out by the Tech Support team (with the help of the class advisers), and will be
reflected in your child's official school records.

Will the students have their own Schoology Orientation?

YES. The Schoology Orientation for students will be done by grade level, and will also be
facilitated by the Learning Solutions Specialist from Rex Book Store. The sessions will be
from September 7 – 11, 2020. The specific schedule for each grade level will be posted in
another announcement.

When can we get the students’ textbooks/workbooks in school?

We hope to be able to distribute the books beginning on Thursday, September 3. They

will be distributed by family name and we will announce the schedule here.
