Information Needs Assessment


 Who is your user group?
o Public Library
o User group = young adults (18-30)
 What do you know about your user group? How do they behave when seeking and using
information?
o Young adults are frequenting the library, but not really interacting with the materials.
How to get them engaged in their community and resources?
 What information do they most need?
o The information I would like to gather is local history, but also information about Orange
County, North Carolina in general
o Including things to do here of interest to the age group.
 Day trips
 Museums
 Anything to promote interaction with the community
o Increasing their connection to the space they live and increasing community ties.
 Where are the gaps in needs?
o Information geared toward multiple generations for the topic to keep parties interested.
 What are the challenges/barriers to meeting these needs?
o Trying to figure out how to tailor information towards the age group, 18-30 while
keeping it interesting.
