Preface

The 5529 Access Provisioning Center Template Inventory Reference Guide

describes the GENBAND G6 templates that are supported by the 5529 APC. The
GENBAND G6 is a supported third-party NE.

Audience
This document is intended for template/service designers who are responsible for the
creation, design, and administration of 5529 APC service templates, and that need to
supply information on the applicable template arguments to the OSS integration
people or to SPFE users. This document assumes that the template/service designer
has an understanding of the underlying NE technology.

2.1 Template overview

Each template type has common properties. Table 2-1 describes the information
provided in the template properties tables.

Table 2-1 Template properties information

Property Value

NE characteristics NE type that supports the template. If applicable, the NE version is also indicated.

Target object The object to have the template applied; for example, a physical or logical port, ONT POTS
port, ONT, VoIP service, or CPE. The template cannot be part of a composite template.
See the 5529 Access Provisioning Center Northbound Interface Specification Guide for more
information about objects and port types.
Using overlapping templates, which is the responsibility of the service planner, logical ports
do not need to be addressed; all configure operations can be addressed to the physical port
and the client application does not need to know about the logical ports.
Template precedence rules Other templates that must be applied before this template is applied

Suspend/resume operation Yes indicates that the suspend and resume operations are supported.
allowed No indicates that the suspend and resume operations are not supported.

Supports custom field Yes indicates that custom field attributes are supported.
attributes No indicates that custom field attributes are not supported.
The suffix _CST is appended to the name of the custom field argument.
Custom field attributes are optional and only appear when administered by the 5520 AMS

Most template types have attributes. Table 2-2 describes the information provided in
the template attribute tables.

Table 2-2 Template attributes information

Identifier Description
Attribute name Name of the attribute on the 5529 APC GUI

Release Indicates the NE releases that support the attribute and attribute properties. When an
attribute Type value changes between NE releases, a row is provided for each set of Type
values: one row to display the set of values before the change and another row to display the
set of values after the change. The Release column indicates the NE releases that support
each set of Type values.
Only the NE releases supported by the current 5529 APC release are listed. For example, if
an attribute is supported on an NE release that is not supported by the current 5529 APC
release, the NE release is not listed in the Release column.

Identifier Description

Mandatory or optional Specifies whether the attribute is mandatory or optional

Mandatory attributes must get a value before a template is used for configuration (either at
template design time, by getting a default value, or at configuration time, by getting it
supplied from the OSS). Optional attributes do not require a value. Both mandatory and
optional attributes can be defined as either an argument or a parameter.

Modifications allowed Yes — indicates that, when the attribute is defined as an argument for the template, the
attribute can be modified with the modify operation when the forceModify parameter is set
to False or the forceModify parameter is not in the modify operation request.
No — indicates the attribute cannot be modified with the modify operation when the
forceModify parameter is set to False or the forceModify parameter is not in the modify
operation request. See the 5529 Access Provisioning Center Northbound Interface
Specification Guide for more information about the modify operation.

— Description of the attribute and additional information

This row appears only when applicable
When applicable, this row specifies:
• status attributes (see Status attributes in section 2.1 in this section)
• additional release information; for example, release information for an attribute that is
supported starting at a minor release

(2 of 2)

Not all attributes need to be exchanged between the client application and the
5529 APC. Only the attributes that are arguments for the template need to be handled
by the client application, unless a default value for the argument is applicable.
Attributes that are template parameters can be discarded.
The service planner identifies whether an attribute is a parameter or an argument and
the information required for the technology layers to be visible to the client
application. This planning makes it possible for the client application to not need to
manage all of the network technology information, only the information that is
required for the service. The service planner can decide to define extra template
argument as virtual arguments and can compose basic templates in composite service
templates. Therefore, integrators should contact the service planner that manages the
5529 APC service template design to obtain information about the templates to use
and their associated template arguments.

Note — This information is also retrievable from the 5529 APC

system through the template metadata retrieval operation, provided
the template design by the service planner has already resulted in
template instances in the 5529 APC system.

Mandatory template attributes must get a value before a template is actually used for
configuration (either at template design time, by getting a default value, or at
configuration time, by getting it supplied from the OSS). Optional attributes do not
require a value. Both mandatory and optional attributes can be defined as either
argument or parameter.

Status attributes
Status attributes are attributes that are used by the check operation in the Northbound
interface. Status attributes can appear as status expressions in the check operation.
See the 5529 Access Provisioning Center Northbound Interface Specification Guide
for information about the check operation.
