RBI Officer Grade ‘B’
Introduction Eligibility Selection Process Exam Pattern
❑ The Reserve Bank of India Services Board (RBISB) conducts the recruitment for Grade ‘B’
officer post in the Reserve Bank of India in General, Department of Economic and Policy
Research (DEPR) and Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM)
streams.
❑ The base level officer in the RBI is Grade ‘A’ Officer (Assistant Manager), the Grade ‘B’ Officer
(Manager) is the next higher grade.
❑ The RBI is located in 32 centres, mostly in State capitals. It’s Central Office is in Mumbai. The
selected candidates could be located at any of these centres during their career.
❑ At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments for Grade ‘B’ officer are roughly between Rs.
75,000 and Rs. 80,000.
Nationality
A candidate must be either:
1) a citizen of India, or
2) a subject of Nepal, or
3) a subject of Bhutan, or
4) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 01 January 1962 with the intention of
permanently settling in India, or
5) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African

Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia
and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
The candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4) and (5) above must have a certificate of
eligibility issued by the Government of India.
Age limit
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30
years.

The selection for the RBI Officer Grade ‘B’ posts will be done through Online examinations in
Phase-I and Phase-II followed by interview.
The candidates must apply online through the RBI website.
The candidates desirous of applying for posts in both Grade ‘B’ General and Grade ‘B’
DEPR/DSIM stream are required to apply for both the positions separately and pay the fees for
both.
The candidates will have to enter their basic details and upload the photograph, signature, left
thumb impression and a hand-written declaration in the online application form as per the
specifications given.

SC/ST/PwBD: Rs. 100
GEN/OBC/EWSs: Rs. 850
Employees of the RBI (staff candidates): Nil
Admit card
The eligible candidates will be issued an Admission Letter two week before the commencement
of the examination. The Admission Letter will be made available on the RBI website for
downloading by candidates.
❑ Interview
The candidates will be shortlisted for the interview, based on aggregate of marks obtained in
Phase-II (Paper-I + Paper-II + Paper-III).

For both RBI Officer Grade ‘B’ - DEPR and DSIM streams
❑ The examination will be conducted on two days, i.e., Paper-I on one day and Paper-II & Paper-
III will be held together on a separate day (exact exam dates and time will be confirmed in
admit cards).
❑ The candidates who secure minimum aggregate marks in Paper-I, as prescribed, will be
shortlisted for Paper-II/Paper-III of the examination.
❑ Final selection will be on the basis of performance in the written examination (Paper-I, Paper-
II and Paper-III) and interview taken together.
