RF/EMI interference with the CD changer operation

Symptom: CD changer will not operate properly when placed on top of or near other
consumer electronic products.
Reason: RF/EMI interference from other consumer products.

Solution: Place a shield under the CD changer and ground it to the PCB ground. Refer to the
instructions on the back of this bulletin and the Lifestyle® 40/50 Music System CD Changer
service manual part number 253847.

1. Using your service manual part number 253847 perform disassembly procedure 9 to
remove the CD mechanisum.

2. Referring to the figure below, place two 3 inch strips of copper 3M tape, Bose® part
number 187630, to the base of the chassis approximately 2 inches from the right side of the
changer mounting pins.

3. Solder a wire from the two copper strips (be sure to solder to both strips) to the ground
side of the PCB at the connector with the copper ground tab (refer to the PCB figure below).
