3.1 Define intellectual revolution.
It is the period where paradigm shifts occurred. It is where the scientific beliefs that have
been widely embraced and accepted by the people where challenged and opposed.
3.2 Identify the three intellectual revolutionists.
The three intellectual revolutionists are
- Copernican Revolution by Nicolaus Copernicus
- Darwinian Revolution by Charles Darwin
- Freudian Revolution by Sigmund Freud
3.3 Articulate the ideas postulated by the three scientists.
Nicolaus Copernicus
- was an astronomer who proposed a heliocentric system, that the planets orbit around
the Sun
- Earth is a planet which, besides orbiting the Sun annually,
- Earth turns once daily on its own axis
Charles Darwin
-He is known for his evolution by natural selection and was formulated in his book “On
the Origin of Species” in 1859.
-The theory describes how organisms change over time as a result of changes in
heritable physical or behavioral traits.
-The changes that allow an organism to better adapt to its environment can help it
survive and have more offspring.
Sigmund Freud
-He articulated and refined the concepts of the unconscious, infantile sexuality and
repression
- He proposed a tripartite account of the mind’s structure—all as part of a radically new
conceptual and therapeutic frame of reference for the understanding of human
psychological development and the treatment of abnormal mental conditions
