Hydraulic Anchor Windlass /

Towing Winch operation


• Grease gypsies before and after hoisting/ lowering operations.
A. Lowering and Stopping
1) Start windlass.
2) Disengage gypsy clutch.
3) Release chain stopper.
4) Release gypsy brake to lower the anchor. If the speed is too fast;
tighten the screw mechanism to reduce the speed.
5) To end the anchor dropping operation, secure gypsy brake.
B. Heaving and Stopping
1) Start windlass.
2) Engage gypsy clutch.
3) Release chain stopper.
4) Release gypsy brake.
5) Move control lever to heave.
6) Move control lever to neutral position to stop heaving.
7) Engage chain stopper.
8) Move control lever to lower for unloading of gypsy.
9) Secure gypsy brake
10) Disengage gypsy clutch.
Note:
The above procedures, meant for lowering the anchor at a controlled speed, will
prevent the risk of damaging the mechanical parts or rupturing the anchor’s
chain.
C. Heave/ Payout of Wire Rope to operate the drum(Towing Winch)
1) Start winch.
2) Engage the drum clutch.
3) Release the drum brake.
4) Shift the directional joystick forward or backwards to heave or payout
the drum. Return joystick to its neutral position to stop drum rotation.
5) Apply the band brake and disengage the clutch after every operation.
*CAUTION:
ENSURE THAT THE DRUM CLUTCH IS DISENGAGED BEFORE COMMENCING ANY TOWING
OPERATION; OTHERWISE THE EQUIPMENT MAY BE DAMAGED.
Hydraulic Tugger Winch Control Functions
Heave : Engage the clutch, release the brake and move the control lever to heave position.
Stop : move the control lever back to its neutral position and secure the brake.
Pay Out : Engage the clutch, release the brake and move lever to Pay Out
position. To stop, move the control lever back to its neutral position and secure brake.
Hydraulic Vertical Capstan Control Functions
Forward : Move the control lever to the Forward position.
Stop: return to neutral position.
Reverse : Move the control lever to the Reverse position.
