or any designated area shall be inspected in compliance with the procedures as set out in
the Procurement and Materials Management.

5.1.4 The works shall be carried out under proper supervision.

5.1.5 As per the approved shop drawings, the markings will be made on the ceiling to ensure
that that the straight line is achieved as per the shop drawings during the installation.
5.1.6 As per the manufacturer’s recommendation, the duct fabrication shall be done.

5.1.7 The 8mm unifix shall be fixed upon making the hole in the ceiling by drilling as per the
marked locations.

5.1.8 The threaded rod (8mm) shall be cut to suitable length as per the shop drawings and
suspended from the ceiling using the unifix.

5.1.9 The G.I -channel shall be cut in to suitable sizes/lengths as per the duct sizes and fixed in
the suspended rods using suitable nut & washer at the designated level as mentioned in the
drawing’s.

5.1.10 Ensure that the pre-fabricated duct sections, Elbows, splitters and plenums are
fabricated in compliance with the approved shop standards. Check the type of seams and
slips and ensure that they are installed as indicated in the specification.

5.1.11 Ensure that the duct joints are made with laps in the direction of airflow and that
flanges are not projected into the air stream. Check that the joints are fastened with
approved sealants and gaskets.

5.1.12 The 45 Deg bend’s, TEE’s, 90 Deg Bend’s, Inside risers, outsider risers and other
accessories shall be neatly fabricated at the site to suit the installation.

5.1.13 Ensure that the instruments for the in-line equipments (i.e. Damper actuators,
Spliter Damper, sound attenuator etc.) are installed and they are well preserved.

5.1.14 Ensure that the Elbows are constructed with turning vanes through the runner in
accordance with Section- of the specification.

5.1.15 Ensure that the Fire dampers are dynamically rated for closure against airflow as per
requirements in the project specification. Check that the fire rating is written on the label
piece.

5.1.16 Ensure that all volume dampers are constructed with locking quadrant device, to
be mounted on outside of the duct as specified in the project specification.

5.1.17 Ensure that the combination Fire and Smoke dampers comply with the
manufacturing requirements and NFPA as indicated in the section of project
specification. Ensure that all dampers are constructed of the same material as
the duct system to be installed and they are suitable for the duct system of same
pressure class and velocity.(if required)

5.1.18 Ensure that duct insulation to be rapped properly over duct with glue as per
approved material.

5.1.19 Ensure that all insulation joint to be covered with 6oz canvas cloth with approved
vapor barrier paints.
5.1.20 Ensure that all ceiling mounted Diffusers, Supply Registers, Return and Exhaust
Registers, Linear type Diffusers and Grilles are as specified in the section of the
project specification.

5.1.21 Check to ensure that the material, type and finishes of all Grilles, Supply
Registers, Return and Exhaust Registers and Linear type Grilles and Diffusers
comply with the requirements in the project specification.

6 MATERIALS CONTROL

6.1 The Site Engineer/Supervisor shall carry out an inspection of the material when
the material arrives in the Site Store in accordance with Specification and Code if
any given, Shop Drawings and Purchase Order.

frequency, duration and quantity.
 In situations where there may be a flammable atmosphere, the following steps
shall be taken:
 Eliminate the likelihood of a flammable atmosphere occurring around the source
of ignition.
 Eliminate the source of ignition.

 Where this is not possible, protective measures, process equipment, systems and
procedures should be selected and prepared so the likelihood of the coincidence of
both factors is so remote as to be acceptable. Such measures may be used singly if
they are recognized as being highly reliable or in combination to achieve an
equivalent level of safety.
