Supernatural or Science?
Enchantingly Bermuda is
one of the few places in the world
that still remain covered with
superstitious mystery such as
vanishing of ship vessels in the area.
Some says it is due to extraordinary
things while others explain it by the
use of science, but which one is true?
This article will enlighten you about
the truth of Bermuda Triangle, its
history, the cause and theories of the
vanishing incidents and to know if
supernatural activities or science was
behind it.
The Bermuda Triangle,
also known as the Devil's Triangle or
Hurricane Alley, is a loosely defined
region in the western part of the
North Atlantic Ocean it is a mythical
section roughly bounded by Miami,
Bermuda and Puerto Rico where
dozens of ships and airplanes have
disappeared. In the last 100 years
thousands of people have lost their
life with in the area and no one is
really sure how and why it
happened.The mystery dates back
over 500 years, even Christopher
Colombus reported strange lights and
huge waves out of nowhere,
hundreds of boats met their end in
this deadly water. Some believed
that lost ancient cities, mysterious
curses and even sea monsters and
other paranormal explanation are the
causes of many incidents in the
triangle but modern science has its
own way in explaining this matters.
It all started in 1945 when
five training flights that took off
from Florida naval base under the
leadership of an experienced captain,
never
returned to
the base.All
are clueless
as to what
may have
happened to
it. In fact

that was sent for the search
operation, also went missing. After
that incidents of disappearances
continues to take place in the area
thus started to catch wide scale
attention. Theories and stories made
by writers, theorists and scientists
explaining the incidents also began

One such writer, Charles Berlitz ,
considered the father of the legend,,
who wrote The Bermuda Triangle in
1974. This was the first book to
suggest that something strange was
going on in the area many theories
tried to explain the mystery. Some
writers have expanded upon Berlitz's
ideas about Atlantis, suggesting that
the mythical city may lie at the
bottom of the sea and be using its
"crystal energies" to sink ships and
planes. Other more suggestions
include time portals and
extraterrestrials including rumors of
underwater alien bases.
Still others believed that the
mystery can be explained through
natural explanation. From the article

have formulated to explain this
phenomenon, the first one is the
“Methane Gas Theory.” Some
scientists have claimed the reason
ships and planes disappear is that of
the methane gas and oil deposits
found at the bottom of the sea. The
mass of the gas and oil can cause
large eruptions that burst through the
surface that can destroy ships and
planes without a trace. Another
theory claims the disappearances are
due to “rogue waves”.
Oceanographer Simon Boxall of
University of Southampton claimed
the reason there are no traces of the
missing ships and planes because
“there are storms to the south and
north which come together and
additional ones that come from
Florida.” another theory was the
“Sargasso Sea Theory.” The
Sargasso Sea is the area within the
Bermuda Triangle where ocean
currents meet to bind the certain spot
and could trap ships that pass
through as it causes them to stop
moving. Aside from these theories
there are contrasting theories that use
more rationale to explain the
Bermuda Triangle disappearances.
Karl Kruszelnicki, an Australian
scientist who performed research on
the Bermuda Triangle, declared that
the missing vessels and planes are
nothing but “human error, bad
weather, heavy air, and sea traffic.”
The unconvinced scientists insisted
the high rate of ships and planes that
went missing was nothing
supernatural, just unfortunate
circumstances. This was supported
by the US Coastguard saying that
“The number that go missing in the
Bermuda Triangle is about the same
as everywhere else in the world.”
In conclusion, There are
various explanations and theories
behind such incidents, in many cases
the incidents have remained
unexplained. Is it really because of
supernatural activities? Natural
occurrence? No one really knows but
we should remember that the ocean
has always been a mysterious place
to humans and when foul weather or
poor navigation is involved it can be
very deadly place. Wether it is the
Bermuda or not we should always be
careful every time we travel.
