Build the Project Team

developing a mission statement so that all team
members can understand and buy into it.
• The core of a project team’s mission is always to
complete the project on time, within budget, and
according to specifications.

• Conflict will occur in even the best of teams.

– Consequently, project managers must be prepared to deal
with it.
• Human responses to conflict:
– escape (denial, flight, suicide)
– attack (litigation, grievances, assault, murder)
– resolution (overlook, reconcile, negotiate, mediate,
arbitrate).

Conduct Procurements

• A comprehensive bid package (RFQ or RFP) contains

an invitation to bid, announcement of the pre-bid
conference, bidding instructions, and the bidding
