FLJ: Professional Tamaraw

What are the practical things you do to develop professionalism as a university student?
What are the areas in your life that you need to continue building to become a ‘grown-up’
who acts and thinks professionally?

As the time pass by, I am one step closer to my dream and reality. Who would have thought I
would reach this point where I get to be a senior student in Far Eastern University? I have been
through a lot and those first 2 years in the university was not really a piece of cake. I could just
say I am nearly a working professional, a registered nurse in the next two years. To be quite
honest, there are lot of things I really need to improve in order to have a strong foundation as
adulting is kind of approaching. I really need to be more focused, since lately or just given the
time of pandemic I am not able to focus and I got a really short attention-span. I have to work it
out for me to stick to a single job in the future and I would be able manage my work
engagement well. With that being said, this is the time of the year when I really need to realize
and prioritize things that could be beneficial for me in the future, this pandemic really brought
truck of realization which I could ponder. And of course, I have to be flexible in terms of
socialization since in work I get to work with different people and not only sticking to like set of
co-workers I know that I would be collaborating with different kind of people so I have to be
grounded and always listen and think thoroughly before I speak or act—since I believe if you
would like to be respected by your colleagues you have to earn that and do things that are worth
respecting. I may say, I am not that really prepared enough to face reality, but I will make most
the best out of my remaining two years in the university. I have to say that I also really should
work on accepting constructive criticisms since we all have the room for improvements and our
skills really vary from one to another, accepting criticisms may push me to reach the limits and
be the best that I can be every day. In the present time, I really am learning on accepting
criticism without the person who criticized being hated by me and it’s really difficult since I am
confident that I really exert effort to everything I do and yet it is still not enough for them
however, I am really working on it since I know to be a professional, he is the one who is always
ready to accept that we have differences and spaces for improvements. I am very skeptical
since many people said adulting is the hardest and biggest adjustment people could ever have.
But let’s focus on the bright the side and strive to achieve more to become a really good and
professional person.
