The cyclone separator for the removal of solid and liquid particles and aerosols from
compressed air and gases

1 - Product description

The cyclone separators CS are designed for the processing of compressed air or other gases in
industrial applications
The units offer a high degree of separation over a large flow range with small pressure losses.
This is ensured by an innovative spin insert and a flow-optimized design of the housing. This product
offers 6 different housings with a flow range between 120 and 1100 m3/h (related to 7 bar (g)).The
cyclone separator is conform to the requirements of the European directive 97/23/EG for pressure
vessels.

Function description:
Through the innovative insert in the cyclone head the inlet airflow is moved into a fast rotating drive,
which centrifuges larger particles due to their mass inertia against the inner housing wall. Through
friction with the housing the particles lose part of their kinetic energy and slide down with reduced
speed towards housing ground. The collected condensate on the housing ground is removed via
condensate drain, while the purified compressed air is made available to the system. Two versions are
available: Standard Type with time controlled condensate drain with level-controlled condensate drain.

Features: Benefits:
Flow-optimized design of the housing Low pressure losses, thereby saving energy costs
Innovative spin insert High retention rates over a large volume flow range
Intelligent overall concept Series range, retention rates and available options perfectly meet
requirements of industrial air purification. Adequate to the industrial filter series CS
Bayonet fixing between housing head and housing bowl Easy to use construction, simple inspection
and cleaning of the housing
Housing cannot be opened under pressure due to bayonet lock High safety during operation
Housings immersion laquererd on the inside and outside surface Long-term corrosion protection, also
against aggressive condensates

Options:
Float drain, pneumatically or solenoid valve
Wall bracket Distance to the wall gradelessly adjustable
Connection adapter

4 – Safety instructions

Warning!
All Installation and maintenance work on the pressure vessel may only be carried out by
trained and experienced specialists.
Appropriate use!
The unit may only be used for its intended purpose. These units are intended exclusively for
the following purpose:
> Separation of condensate, particles and oil mist from operating media of group 2 as per
Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC.
Any other form of use or one going beyond this shall be considered as inappropriate. We
shall have no liability whatsoever for any damage incurred as a result!
General safety hints!
> You as operator/user of the unit should make yourself familiar with the function, installation
and start-up of the unit through these operating instructions. It is essential that you follow
these safety notes and this information in order to ensure trouble-free operation of the unit.
> The pressure vessel has been designed for a life of 10 years.

5 - Installation, startup and operation

General installation instructions

> Depressurize the system before carrying out any work on the pressure vessel.
> Make a visual check! There must be no external damage visible.
> Make a check for leaks!
> Clean the piping before carrying out the installation work.
Startup and operation
Slowly apply pressure to the system by first opening the downstream valve. Make sure that
no pressure peaks occur.
Pressure peaks within the system can damage the condensate drain and upstream devices.

6 – Preventive Maintenance

- The functioning of the automatic condensate drain is to be tested weekly by manual

operation.
