The Trevi fountain, is a famous baroque fountain in Rome (Italy), and
possibly one of the most famous fountains in the world.
Is the largest fountain in Rome, with more of 20 meters wide and 26
meters high, it´s made of travertine marble, and the backdrop for the fountain is the palazzo poli. The proyect of the built of fountain began en 1629 by pope Urban VIII and after by the pope Clement XII, but the work began in 1732 and the fountain was completed in 1762. Was designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi y completed by Pietro Bracci. The name of the fountain is by at the junction of three roads (tre vie), and It is located where it ended the aqueduct “aqua virgo” that supplied water to ancient Rome.
It is tradition to throw coins at the fountain to be lucky. If you throw one
coin you will go back to Rome, if you throw 2 coins you will fall in love, and if you throw three coins you will get married or divorce.
