Assignment Brief and Guidance

Scenario
You have been appointed as committee member of cross cultural management committee of a multinational
company. You have to choose an organization of your choice and resolve the cultural and motivational
issues of employees and discuss the following points which can bring positive outcomes from employees for
success of organization in future

1. Analyze how an organisation’s culture, politics and power influence individual and team behaviour and
performance.
2. Your committee wants you to discuss Hofstede’s dimensions of culture theory and application in your
chosen organization.
3. You need to discuss the impact of technology in your chosen organization like mobile phones , internet
etc.in influencing organizational performance
4. Critically analyze how the culture, politics and power, technology of an organization can impact the team
behavior of your chosen organization.
5. Critically evaluate the relationship between culture, politics, power and motivation that enables teams and
organizations to succeed providing justified recommendations in relation to your chosen organization
6. Evaluate how content and process theories of motivation (Maslow, Herzberg, Vroom etc.) and
motivational techniques enable effective achievement of goals in an organizational context.
7. Critically evaluate how to influence the behaviour of others through the effective application of
behavioural motivational theories, concepts and models.
8. You need to discuss the emotional intelligence and the importance of soft skills for managers and teams.
9. Discuss the factors that make an effective team and also discuss the types of teams with relevant
Tuckman model application.
10. Critically analyse and evaluate the relevance of team development theories in context of organisational
behaviour concepts and philosophies that influence behaviour in the work place.

11. Apply concepts and philosophies of organisational behaviour within an organisational context and a
given business situation :

Business Situation

The senior manager assigns a task to planning of increase the level of sales for every three months. The
sales are of your chosen organization are decreasing day by day which a matter of concern for senior
management. Also there are some conflicts arising between employees of organization.

1. A conflict between marketing and accounts department of your chosen organization regarding the
budget of marketing department.

2. Moreover, in office of your chosen organization, there is a cultural issue prevailing that there are two
communities of foreigners and Pakistani. Issue has risen from the female colleague of Pakistani Community
that foreigners have an open culture of greeting to female employees with handshakes which is creating
unrest in the female employees belonging to Pakistani culture.

Requirement:

Based on the above situation you need to apply role of leader/ manager in achieving the senior manager task
of increasing sales after every three months by considering these cultural and behavirol issues

For this purpose you need to mention path goal theory of leadership by applying and resolving situational
and contingency resistance and barriers which your chosen organization is currently facing (e.g
interdepartmental conflict, cultural issues, competition, economic and health issues related to your product.)

12. Explore and evaluate how concepts and philosophies of OB inform and influence behaviour in both a
positive and negative way.
