My name is Genevieve McCarthy and I am the Branch Manager for Supply Desk Southampton. I have worked closely with Daniel since his arrival in the UK in April 2019. Daniel arrived in the UK looking to gain teaching experience in Primary schools in Southampton and he has worked pretty much consistently with us since he got here! Of course Covid has caused work to halt but from April 2019 to March 2020 I can honestly say Daniel has been an asset to the office and to my schools. Daniel is a sought after Teacher in particular with the R&L Federation which is a large group of schools in Southampton who are known to be quite demanding and also quite tough due to the location! Quite often I would have them arguing over who could have him for PPA cover / a block of work! These schools included Holy Family Catholic School and Bitterne Park Primary School. Daniel has shown that even though he may prefer the younger year groups that the schools find him to be an outstanding teacher across Years R to Year 6. The feedback from schools has been excellent and he has shown a great understanding of the UK curriculum and also the behaviour management strategies in place. On a personal level he has also been a breeze to work with, patient, understanding, inquisitive and very friendly! To be honest I will be truly gutted when Daniel returns to Australia as I know these schools will be HOWEVER whoever decides to hire Daniel will be very lucky to have him as an addition to their school! I can confirm Daniel has had no safeguarding issues and will continue to be a valued member of Supply Desk until he leaves the UK. I wish him all the best and know he will be amazing no matter where he goes!
